Last week our crew pruned and ground out multiple stumps at Bales Park. With many mature trees, the signs of overgrowth and storm damage were evident. We are incredibly grateful and proud to have been able to clean up this beautiful Tulsa park & trail system!
This project was made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act and the USDA.
We are excited to announce our upcoming fundraiser celebrating the 48-year legacy of environmental stewardship in Tulsa. As a nonprofit organization, we know the power of community to create lasting change. Together, we change the landscape.
Join us for dinner under the Canopy at Woodward Park, with drinks, live music, and great company. Your support will help us plant & care for thousands of trees, contributing to cleaner air, healthier ecosystems, and a greener future for generations to come. Every donation brings us one step closer to our goal.
Date: Friday, October 4, 2024
Location: The Arboretum at Woodward Park

With over 400 highway sites throughout Tulsa County, we have the privilege of hearing the stories of those individuals and companies in our community that make our home dynamic and beautiful. Written by their daughter, Jessica Dyer, we are honored to remember the lives of Drs. Mohan and Patti Mittapalli.
"Drs. Mohanrao and Parvati Mittapalli married in June of 1969 in India and immigrated to the United States. They proudly planted their roots in the Tulsa area for over 40 years. They served their community through medicine, wisdom, joy, humor and generosity beautifying it one person at a time. They lived with passion for Tulsa, its people and all it offered. Mohanrao and Parvati brought balance and harmony to the earth persevering in strength and connectedness. Trees offer much of the same as they serve as a symbol of life, individuality and beauty each with a designated space in this world. The first act that Mohanrao would do when moving to a new house was plant a tree for his wife and daughters. There were always crepe myrtles which was one of their favorite flowering trees. These surround their Up With Trees sign this day. The pine trees they have planted over the years now tower and serve as pillars of history and memories. They have shared seedlings of their trees with anyone they could. This site serves as a way to honor them as it was carefully selected for its location close to the hospital and on the way home where they lived in Hunter's Pointe. They served as excellent examples to their children, grandchildren and to all who journeyed with them. May we continue to nurture and nourish one another with kindness, spreading joy where we can, smiling, living and loving well. May this site serve as a reminder to slow down, notice others and leaving them better than we found them."
Join us next Saturday, August 3, at Zarrow International Elementary School to w**d and mulch the Outdoor Classroom! This family-friendly volunteer event is from 8:30am - 11:30am. If you have your own gardening gloves, please bring them, otherwise we will provide all supplies!
Got a nosey neighbor? Plant a tree! Trees provide a natural privacy barrier as well as abate noise. This is a big benefit of planting trees along major highways in Tulsa is protecting surrounding neighborhoods from the noise of traffic.
These days it seems everyone has some kind of stress and pressure with which they are grappling. This is your sign to take care of yourself, take a walk in the woods and be present in nature. Feel the shade sheltering you from the hot sun, and breathe in the fresh air. Nature reminds us that when we are in the right environment, we can flourish.
Meet Jess England, an Up With Trees Board Member! We are so grateful to have her on our team helping green our beautiful community!
Our office and operations will be closed tomorrow in observance of Independence Day. Have a fun & amazing Fourth of July!

feel greater enthusiasm for the job🌳🌲
report feelings of higher life satisfaction🌳🌲🌳
report better overall health than their coworkers without a view 🌳🌲🌳🌳

Steve, our Executive Director, has worked with trees for so many years he is starting to act like them! Unfortunately his umbrella method is just not as effective at cooling cars as the shade of a tree. On these 100 degree days lets thank the trees for being so good at cooling cities!
This morning's thunderstorm is a great reminder that trees need water now more than ever! With this heat our trees need to be watered every few days. Forget the lemonade stand, our trees are thirsty - here are some tips!
Meet Elise, an Operations Crew Member, and in-house entomologist! She has been giving our trees a fighting chance against bagworms. Bagworms can harm deciduous and evergreen trees by eating the foliage, hindering a tree's ability to produce enough food to survive the winter.

With those beautiful sunny summer days comes heat! Did you know that having trees in urban areas can cool cities up to 10 degrees? Even young trees can have an immediate cooling effect. Check out these photos of the landscape beds we planted along North Peoria this last winter. More trees means more shade and a healthier/more inhabitable city.

Did you know that trees absorb gaseous pollutants such as ozone, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and sulfur dioxide, through tiny openings in leaves, "stomata", and then are broken down within the tree? Trees need to be protected and planted within city infrastructure so that they can work to protect the people that live there.
Follow Ozone Alert! to be notified when Tulsa is experiencing unsafe Ozone levels, and what you should do.
