Three Tulsa mayoral candidates faced off at the historic Cain’s Ballroom, making their case to succeed Mayor G.T. Bynum. Brent VanNorman, Karen Keith, and Monroe Nichols addressed issues like business growth, government efficiency and homelessness. The event, hosted by NonDoc and 2 News Oklahoma in partnership with the Tulsa Regional Chamber, drew about 300 attendees.

The nonpartisan mayoral primary is set for Aug. 27, with a runoff election, if needed, on Nov. 5.

Congratulations to Josh Driskell for being recognized last week at the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives Convention in Dallas for completing the Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) program. Josh is the fourth member of the Tulsa Regional Chamber’s staff to earn this notable merit.

The CCE program is designed to evaluate key areas of the chamber Body of Knowledge: management, planning and development, membership, communications and revenue and operations. CCEs demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in the chamber of commerce management and leadership, both locally and nationally.

Tulsa has been awarded about $51 million in federal funding to boost the city’s tech economy. This investment will drive significant advancements in research and innovation and is projected to create up to 56,000 jobs for our community during the next decade.

Of the 31 cities initially designated as “tech hubs” last year, Tulsa is one of 12 to receive funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration.

Tulsa's Young Professionals, the Tulsa Regional Chamber’s young professionals group, partnered with Tulsa Remote and PartnerTulsa on a new initiative called “Tulsa Loves IKEA.” A bus full of TYPROS members and fellow IKEA-loving Tulsans visited the IKEA store in Frisco, Texas, for a shopping trip and to show IKEA how eager Tulsans are for a store of their own.
