We are so excited to introduce Missy Strong, our newest coach at CrossFit Eclipse! Missy will be assisting our morning crew on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, so be sure to welcome her with open arms!

🙌 A Little About Missy: 🙌

Missy has been doing CrossFit for over 12 years, and her journey started after teaching women’s group fitness classes and running marathons. A friend introduced her to CrossFit, and she quickly fell in love with the barbell (and the thrill of beating the boys in class 😜). She’s been coaching for 6-7 years and is passionate about helping people improve their form and celebrating their progress, whether it’s a first pull-up, a new box jump, or a personal record in a lift.

Missy says, “I love making people smile and bringing positive energy into the early morning classes. I want you to feel safe and confident while working out, but we’ll also have lots of fun!”

🤝 Missy is excited to join the Eclipse community, sharing, “The people and relationships make me excited to show up! It’s a saying that might sound intimidating, but it’s not meant to scare anyone away. Pain, in this sense, is about embracing the challenge—pushing yourself to reach beyond what you thought possible.

We believe hard work looks different for everyone. It’s about finding your version of hard work, pushing through it, and seeing the strength, resilience, and confidence that come out on the other side.

The reward❓ That’s progress. Whether it’s lifting heavier, running faster, or simply moving better than you did yesterday, it’s all progress worth celebrating.

Strengthen Your Core with the Right Posture! 💪

Today we’re collaborating with and their Clinical Director, , to discuss the impact of posture during and after pregnancy. Tune in as Tristen covers the importance of pelvic positioning and offers tips to help you regain core strength to enhance your workouts.

🔹 Understanding Pelvic Position:
• Pregnancy and postpartum often lead to an anterior pelvic tilt (hips forward, tailbone back). This can lengthen the pelvic floor muscles and lead to leaks, pressure, or discomfort during activity.
• Poor posture can also result in low back pain and poor abdominal engagement.

🔹 Correcting Your Position:
• Slightly tuck your tailbone under to neutralize your pelvis.
• Align your rib cage between your shoulders and hips to feel everything nicely stacked.

This small adjustment can make a big difference! 💥 Watch the full video to see how to utilize these tips and feel more active and supported during your workouts.

🤝 Choosing the right grip for each gymnastics is very important to make the movement easier, safer and improve efficiency.

✋How wide you go on your grip is a very personal decision, as it has to do a lot with your body and limb length, preferences and your personal strengths. We find that following this recommendations can help you become more efficient and improve your gymnastics form and capacity. 🤚

🐒 Toes to bars and bar muscle ups use a similar grip, shoulder width apart approximately. Using this grip has certain benefits like:
💪 Easier to engage your lats and push down on the bar.
💪 Your push down is more aligned with the direction of your body, reducing inefficient use of forces
💪 Protects your shoulders from falling into an excessive internal rotation when doing your muscle ups.

🦋 Butterfly Pull-ups or chest to bars can benefit from a wider grip. These are the reasons:
🙌 A wider grip can help generate a more consistent and stable circular pattern, essential for safety and efficiency when doing butterfly pull ups.

🙌It also reduces the range of motion, making the movement shorter. This will also make the movement faster. It doesn’t make a huge difference when it comes to doing 3-5 reps, but it definitely does when it comes to doing big sets, like 20s or 30s.

⭐️ These are just a few adjustments that we can make to your gymnastics skills. If you feel like you are currently stuck and you’d like to unlock all these movements and more, ask our coaches what might work best for you and how to optimize your movement.
