We delivered 46 additional programs and reached 35% more students compared to last year, bringing the arts to even more young minds across northeast Texas. We work closely with schools to place talented Teaching Artists into the school day to meet diverse fine arts program needs. These teaching artists can be contracted to teach multiple classes, which are integrated into the master schedule as electives in Fine Arts, PE, or offered as part of after-school activities. Our current offerings in Smith County include Dance, Drumline, Piano, and Brass programs. Did you know?

Our Northeast Texas Poetry in Schools contest is held in partnership with Region 7 ESC and the Rusk County Poetry Society. Open to students in grades 1-12, a panel of published authors, poets, and educators select first through third place winners at each grade level, with winning poems being published and a scholarship given to the winning 12th grade student. Submissions are accepted in February, and winners are celebrated in April during National Poetry Month.

Our July camps kicked off today with Magical World of LitArt! Campers are exploring storytelling and literature through artistic practices! Don't miss our final camp of the summer next week, Artistic Avengers, where your child will spend the week diving into all things super heroes, from comic book creation to super hero costumes!

We are pleased to be the recipient of a grant from ​Texas Women for the Arts (TWA)​, a program of the Texas Cultural Trust. The $5,500 grant funds will be used to help support an exciting new after-school program we are doing in partnership with Caldwell Arts Academy.

TWA is a statewide giving circle and membership program whose mission is to awaken and nurture the artist in every Texas child. Established in 2005, this philanthropic force of influential women from across the state has awarded 403 grants, totaling more than $4.3 million, and impacting more than 3.7 million Texas children.
