📚Libro del día📚
“¡Chones, por favor!” :
💥boardbook bilingüe (español/ingles)
💥 Ages 1-4

Sinopsis:
“In this tale set in the ancient Inka (sometimes spelled Inca) empire, Little Chaski has a big job: he is the Inka King’s newest royal messenger. On his first day delivering messages he stops to help several creatures in need along the way, causing him to nearly miss his sunset deadline. But the kindness he bestowed on these animals winds up helping him in surprising ways. Descriptive language and bold illustrations give readers insight into Little Chaski’s nervousness and excitement as he runs the Inka Trail, working earnestly to fulfill the responsibilities of his new role.”

🐸 My 8 year old is into ranitas these days. Her favorite character and obsession is Keroppi the frog. As we were planning frog themed birthday we had a fun discussion about “el coqui” y las ranitas. The conversation also led to learning more about Puerto Rico as one of her besties mom is from La Isla del Encanto. 🇵🇷
The coqui is a very popular creature throughout the Island of Puerto Rico and has been a cultural symbol for centuries! As the sun sets, the coqui’s song is heard louder.
Here are 5 fun facts about el coqui and how it is different from regular ranitas (frogs):
🐸 El coqui is endemic to Puerto Rico
🐸 El coqui has more than 17 species, 13 of them found only in El Yunque National Forest
🐸 El coqui skips the tadpole stage. A tiny but fully functional froggie hatches from the egg.
🐸 The name derives from the “co-kee” which is the male’s call to attract females. The “Co” part of the call deters other males, while the “qui” part attracts female frogs.
🐸 The coqui is considered the loudest amphibian.
Comment “Coqui” if you would like a free download of the infographic for your peques or classroom.

Sinopsis:
Based on a true story! Join a young boy and his father on an arduous journey from Mexico to the United States in the 1980s to find a new life. They’ll need all the courage they can muster to safely cross the border — la frontera — and to make a home for themselves in a new land. Inspired by the childhood immigration experience of co-author Alfredo Alva, this story of perseverance is told in both Spanish and English to empower language-learning. Includes 4 pages of endnotes that unpack facts about Alfredo’s story and other stories like his / borders and borders around the world to help parents and educators talk with children about immigration, resilience, empathy and belonging.
Written by a Muslim author and illustrated by a Muslim artist, the story immerses readers in the rituals of Ramadan, while endnotes provide additional factual information about Ramadan.
We have a Spanish only and a English Spanish bilingual wereion available.
Zahra hugs her cherished teddy bear and prays that Ramadan will bring her a longed-for sister. When her bear subsequently goes missing, Zahra finds herself grappling with intense feelings of loss. Over the next few weeks, as she volunteers with her mother at a local shelter for asylum seekers, Zahra befriends a displaced child, resulting in a newfound sense of gratitude and an unexpected Ramadan blessing.

Gorgeous, fascinating and full of lore…
The scarlet macaw is Honduras national bird and the Mayans revered this beautiful feathered creature and thought of him as the reincarnation of 🔥fire🔥 itself!
❤️ Loud but loyal 👉 Once they find a mate, they will share their nest with only one partner in their lifetime.
🪶To the Mayans, the feathers colors were simbolic:
💥RED- The sun rays and fire
☀️YELLOW- The sun
🌐BLUE- The sky
🗣 Macaws can speak. They can create speech with their syrinx and tongue, allowing them to learn human words and even songs. 🎶.
🛑These beautiful birds are highly sought after, as they can be great pets, and are frequently poached. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service is supporting long term efforts in Mexico and Honduras with grants. 🙌🏻 Conservation efforts have led to a whopping 80% reduction of poached birds in the Moskitia Region (Honduras virgin rainforest). 💪🏼🙏. Check out fws.Gov to find out how you can help!
The macaw enjoys many names in español and these are just a few:
🦜Guacamaya
🦜Papagayo
🦜Guara.
What do you call this bird? Did you learn something new?
Stay tune for more ideas on how to use this beautiful creature to teach your children language and conservation… 😉

Positive affirmations are fundamental a a healthy sense of sense, enhance coping skills and creates a positive mindset.
Positive affirmations have been found to have neuropsychological effects as they alter brain responses and behaviors. These are how children learn self-talk. Acquiring the ability to change our thoughts allows us to regulate our feelings.
Depending on your child’s age, affirmations can look a little different.
These are my TOP 5 favorite books about affirmations, self-confidence and empowerment:
📚”Yo soy”
📚Retazos
Incorporate books into your story time that help that help children find their inner voice and authentic self.
Do you practice self-talk and positive affirmations yourself? If the answer is no- I challenge you to practice along as modeling these skills for our children is one of the most powerful ways we can teach these skills to our chiquitos. ✨
Let’s practice together: what is/are positive affirmation/s you tell yourself?
These are some of mine that get me through the 💩 days:
✨I am brave
✨ I am strong
✨ I am resilient
