GABORONE, 26th April 2024: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the public that His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, President of the Republic of Botswana, will
undertake a Working Visit to the United States of America, from 28th April to 9th May 2024.

His Excellency will participate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Conference which will be held under the theme “Innovation in Global Growth Markets: Prosperity through Entrepreneurship Conference” in Boston on 30th April 2024. He will give a Keynote Address on how technology acts as a catalyst in advancing development and ensuring continued prosperity in growth markets. The Conference will provide an opportunity to gain insight into how entrepreneurship can play a critical role in the attainment of economic prosperity around the world.
The President will then proceed to New York, where he will attend the 2024 Global Citizen Now Summit, on 2nd May 2024. During the Summit, he will engage in discussions with The Honourable Mr. Phillip Edward Davis, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. These discussions will focus on collaboration between Botswana and The Bahamas, particularly in areas such as economic development, cultural relations, tourism, agriculture, health, education and financial services.

Furthermore, His Excellency will travel to Dallas, Texas, where he will participate at the US-Africa Business Summit which will be held under the theme “US-Africa Business: Partnering for Sustainable Business Success” from 6th to 9th May 2024. He will also participate in the High-Level Dialogue entitled “Unlocking Africa’s Digital Potential-Addressing Challenges and Expanding Opportunities”.

The US-Africa Summit presents an opportunity to advance Botswana’s economic interests in the US in various strategic sectors, including digitisation of Botswana’s economy, Agri-Business, health, value addition of natural resources, as well as transport and communications.

AG. PS ADDRESES THE TOURISM INDUSTRY

A.G Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and Tourism Boatametse Modukanele this afternoon told a packed hall at the just ended HATAB conference on government lobby against the impending bill which seeks to ban the importation of trophy by European Union Members. Modukanele updated the industry on the the working visit undertaken by the Hon. Minister Dumezweni Mthimkhulu and his delegation to the United Kingdom to lobby against the impending bill and its impact to livelihoods, noting that both photographic and hunting tourism should be marketed
Modukanele revealed that government is currently working on plan to engage different stakeholders on the matter as well as looking at alternative markets.

A visit at Qooshe settlement to have a look at the borehole.........cattle stranded at the borehole looking for drinking water!!!! Looking forward to diagnose the problem.......and hoping for a quick fix to the situation.

Qangwa Community Trust with village leadership Kgosi Ledimo Ledimo and headman of arbitration Mr Rikondjisiwa Korujezu handing over Certificates of Completion to participants who took part in Photography and Storytelling Training which was held in Qangwa village, there were 15 participants in total. The Training was held by Friends of Photography Conversation Society in collaboration with Qangwa Community Trust under the Theme: Changing Lives through Photography!
