Not all calls have a positive outcome. This one was a sad one. The victim in this call was brought home to his family. A big thank you to LACoFD , especially their Air Operations and LASD Air Rescue-5 for conducting these rescues. They were essential due to the location and terrain.
On July 27th SCVSAR was called for a cliff rescue on the Waterfall Trail in Placerita Canyon. The team hiked to the victim and found him approximately 30 to 40 feet above the trail and holding onto a rock to keep from falling. The team quickly set up a lowering system while team member Michael Kaericher climbed above the victim to secure a rope to a tree. Michael was lowered to the victim and quickly placed him into a harness. Now safe from falling, our victim relaxed and let us lower him to the trail bottom. He was so excited and wanted to take a photo with our team. SCVSAR is on call 24/7, 365 days a year to serve our community.

Flashback to a rescue we came upon last weekend while on our way back from another!
First we ran across a tarantula 🕷️ crossing the road. Then a few miles later, a dog named Seabass was in the middle of the road and ran up to our truck.
We contacted the owner of the dog and drove "Seabass" down about 5 miles to be reunited with them, who were happy to see him and didn't know their dog had escaped earlier today.
More of our weekend rescues! This was Sunday’s callout. A male hiker, 47 years had been missing since Saturday at 2pm near Bear Campground in the Angeles National Forest.
He was found with the assistant from LASD Air 5 and Antelope Valley Search & Rescue
Along with SCVSAR running the operation and having ground crews out hiking. Team work 👏

It’s been a busy weekend for SCT SAR. Yesterday we began our search for two missing brothers.
One in his 80's & other in his 90's. They went fishing at the aqueduct near 300th Street West in Neenach. Both were hours overdue when their family went looking for them.
Fishing gear was found along the bank of the aqueduct but no sign of the brothers.
Santa Clarita Search and Rescue, Gorman Deputies, LACoFD Copter 15 & Engine 477 were dispatched to the scene. Also used were a LASD SEB drone with night vision and Forward looking infrared "FLIR" .
The search continued with SEB divers searching the bottom of the 60 ft deep aqueduct. The State Water Resource District is on scene and has slowed the flow of the water to aid in the search efforts.
Be advised, the water appears calm in the photos but it’s extremely rough & unsafe to be near, especially after dark.
Teamwork with incredible tools at our disposal today helped in the search and rescue of a missing 29-year-old male experiencing emotional issues
He went missing last night and spent the night in the cool weather alone. Santa Clarita search and rescue, canine, and the SEB drone team searched Val Verde near the missing his former home. Within a few minutes he was spotted 25 ft below.
A trail outlined by the drone guided rescue teams in and walked the victim out where he had a very emotional reunion with his wife.
Another happy ending for SCV SAR & SEB

On the way back to the station from our rescue, we responded to a 2 car accident on the NB 14 freeway at Newhall Ave. 4 people were complaining of neck and back pain and transported to the hospital by LACoFD.
Footage from Tuesday night’s rescue! At about 9:30pm, SCV Search and Rescue and LACo Fire responded to a cliff rescue off San Canyon and Bear divide.
