Hair has always been a sensitive topic for me, as I have genetically fine hair and medical conditions that can affect its thickness. But you know what? I didn't let that stop me. When I entered the beauty industry, I doubted that anyone would choose me as their stylist because of my own hair struggles. Oh boy, was I wrong!

Healthy hair hacks! 

-Turn down that heat 350 should be the Max on your heat tools and that's if you hair is in very good condition. 

-Don't go to sleep on wet hair! You hair is at its most delicate state when wet so going to bed that way can cause frizz and breakage.

-Get regular Trims/ Haircuts- Spilt ends start from the bottom and will work their way up the hair shaft and continue to spilt, so if you want to avoid big chops come in more frequently to keep your hair looking it's best! 

-Use a leave in conditioner of your choice! 

Wether it's a spray or a cream with added heat protection, using a leave in is a step I always recommend for everyone because our hair always wants added moisture, and besides who doesn't want silky soft hair? ;)

Your hair should be DIRTY before a color service because the natural oils help to protect against the chemicals that can be harsh at times on the scalp. The natural oils serves as an extra coating and so that when we go to break down the cuticle there’s less damage, breakage and irritation.⁠

So now here's where the debate comes in, the Natural oils from your scalp are fine but if there's buildup of other things such as dry shampoo, hairsprays or anything that changes texture or creates coating that can cause problems. We don't want those added barriers to prevent the color from entering the cuticle for proper saturation.⁠

So answer, natural oils are fine! Product buildup? Go ahead and gently wash before! ⁠
