Core Knowledge Charter
Core Knowledge Charter School is a K-8 public school serving nearly 400 students in the elementary and middle school.
The Verona Area School District (VASD) is working with all district schools to ensure that:
•Every student has a personalized learning plan that provides a path to discovery and achievement and that plan is reviewed and changed at least annually based on the student’s needs
•Every student’s parent, guardian or advocate participates directly in the design, implementation,
and outcomes of that stu
CKCS is hoping to create a Girls on the Run team this fall! This AMAZING program is open to girls in 3rd-5th grade with the goal of building confidence, creating friendships, staying active and having fun! The season starts September 9th and finishes with a 5k on November 9th.
In order to host a team, we need 2 more volunteer coaches. Practices will be 2x/week for 90 minutes. Days & times are TBD. Please reach out to Ms. Krenz if you're interested!

Core Knowledge Charter School is looking to fill a part time Educational Assistant Position for the upcoming school year. This position supports in the classroom as well as lunch and recess times. Hours are Mondays (10:00-1:30) Tuesday-Fridays (8:45-2:30).

Knowledge-A-Thon is this Friday, May 24th during the school day! Our goal is to raise $15,000! This is a great fundraiser for our curriculum and operating expenses not otherwise covered by the school district.

CKCS 1st graders participated in the 2nd annual Earth Day Fashion Show to show off their recycled outfits that they created. Each student had the opportunity to walk the red carpet to show off their hard work and their great smiles. Ms. Latisha also got to join the fun as well! Thank you to Ms. McBride and Ms. Richardson-Murray for organizing this fun event!
Core Knowledge Charter School 6th and 7th graders spent the day at Upham Woods Outdoor Learning Center last week Friday 4/12. It was a wonderful day enjoying nature through stations including fishing, archery, a hike, and team building challenges. Thank you to all parent chaperones and staff who made this trip a huge success!

We will be having Spring Photos taken on this Wednesday, March 13, 2024. These photos are optional and familes do not need to be present for picture day. HR imaging will be in our building from 9:30-12noon for any student who will be taken photos.Forms will be sent home with your student today or you can go online to purchase photos at shop.hrimaging.com. Please email Ms Latisha in the main office if your student will be taking photos or if you have any questions. Families will receive notification from HR imaging on when photos are ready to order online.
Happy National Americorps Week to our Reading Corps Tutor, Owen Bauer! Owen brings such joy and enthusiasm to his work as a reading tutor for our early elementary students. Thanks to him we have seen tremendous gains in the literacy skills of our students! We love that CKCS has been able to take part in this program for the 23-24 school year and hope the partnership continues for many years to come.
Core Knowledge Charter School students hosted their annual Learner Fair event in which every student created a project led and designed by them.
Kindergarten focused on recycling, 1st grade on the solar system, 2nd grade on cells, 3rd grade on animals / habitats, and 4th grade focused on natural disasters. Students in grades 5-8 researched and presented their passion projects based on their own interests and wonderings.
The evening was a wonderful event full of scholars sharing learning around their interests and passions. Thank you to all organizers, volunteers, and family members for supporting them in their exploration!

Join us on Thursday, March 7 from 5:30-7:00pm for our annual Learner Fair event! All students will have a project on display and a FREE DINNER will be available for families (while supplies last). This school-wide event provides all students an opportunity to showcase their learning related to core content or individual interests.

Elementary Spring Book Fair 2024
The Spring Scholastic Book Fair will take place on March 4-8 in the PAC Studio Rooms.
Students will have a chance to attend the book fair twice - once to look at what's available and second time later in the week to make purchases. Additional information will be sent home in student folders.
The book fair will also be open during the Learner Fair on Thursday, March 7 from 5:30-7pm.
On Friday 2/9/24, Core Knowledge Charter School brought their entire school (K-8) together for an assembly. Students celebrated their hard work this school year and cheered on the middle school students as they played games representing their advisories. This K-8 gathering had been a goal of Principal Krenz since she joined VASD and was the first of many celebrations.

CKCS will have the following enrollment openings for the 24-25 school year - Kindergarten: 38 spots, 2nd Grade: 2 spots, 3rd Grade: 6 spots, 4th Grade: 2 spots, 5th Grade: 2 spots, 6th Grade: 7 spots, and 8th Grade: 1 spot.

Core Knowledge Elementary students recently celebrated the end of quarter 1 with an assembly to highlight the work students have done to show the Core Values of Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe & Kind, and Be a Problem Solver. Students cheered on their teachers in fun games, celebrated the number of Links for Success they have earned as a school (129!), and brought their Quarter 1 Core Tickets to be entered into a drawing for Book Fair gift certificates. Student names will continually be drawn each Monday by Ms. Krenz for prize drawings. Keep up the great work students!
