Happiest of birthdays to my heart in friend form 🥰🥰. Twenty years in and we’ve shared everything from a twin beds to nail polish. I wish we could share shoes so I could make my way through her luxe collection but the way my feet are set up it’d be like Cinderella’s stepsister trying to squeeze into her glass slippers 🤣🤣. Thanks for teaching me to treat myself and enjoy life, to run, and most of all about unrelenting friendship. Salt and Pepper sisters 😘😘.
Brave: “Mommy girls can have flat hair too.” ☺️☺️ I love how my boys always chime in on my appearance. Forever a shortie 💇🏾♀️. Thanks to the master who never disappoints.
Best. Bride Squad. Ever.
Thanks to for allowing to be a part of such impactful conversations. Excited about how these stories of Indie beauty brands going where few in the industry endeavor will inspire change. I hope this lights a fire. If it strikes a nerve that’s even better. Change often starts with discomfort.
It’s your birthday but your life is our gift ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I love celebrations and usually remember milestones, but every year I forget July 8th, the anniversary of my last official working day for the federal government and the start of full time entrepreneurship.
While I forget every year, my husband remembers - EVERY YEAR. And today at 4:30pm he presented me with the best homemade card (don’t judge his handwriting) and told me to get ready to go celebrate. Can you say Best. Wednesday. Ever 😆?!?!
Freedom is the most accurate word to describe what entrepreneurship has meant to me. Freedom to govern my time, resources, and talents in the manner that aligns with my purpose and that of my family. Some days are more challenging than others, and yes it’s true that I’m usually always working. Still, the last four years have been some of the best of my life and I’m thankful to God for the rewards that are attached to obeying Him. Cheers to never looking back. @ Shirlington Village, VA
Went to see and she changed my face’s life in 2 hours. Swipe to see before. One of the best beauty investments of my life 💁🏾♀️.

Five years ago I began homeschooling my first child. Who knew it would prepare me for such a time as this. Thanks to for being so diligent in ensuring that the voices of beauty entrepreneurs are heard and to for being an outlet for Indie brands.

When the anniversary and birthday weekend concludes but the celebration never stops. Shout out to kids for helping adults keep life interesting. This obviously isn’t my music and this is clearly my first Tik Tok so IDK if I need that disclaimer 😂 but 🤷🏾♀️. Happy Sunday Funday.

“Black History Month is a time to remind the country and the world of the contributions of people of color, the challenges that they've overcome, and the importance of diversity going forward. While I celebrate Black History Month, my prayer is that one day people of color and their extraordinary contributions to this country and the world will be celebrated regularly, and that my children will enjoy a future where cultural diversity is enjoyed in all aspects of society.” -HeyMama member Nikita Montgomery, the co-founder of . Somewhere I don’t want to be but perfectly fine with why I’m here. There’s a lot of waiting and back and forth between offices. There are a lot of people, many of whom aren’t known for their stellar people skills. There’s also a lot of money involved. But when you’re in it for the long play temporary discomfort is tolerable. Thanks for coming to my
♥️♥️♥️
In the middle of me hurrying my children out of the door this morning my eldest son presented me with this card that he forgot to give me on Valentine’s Day. Whenever he asks where I’m going (if I’m going to work) I always tell him that I’m going to make him some money 😆. I want him to know that work is not some abstract concept but a series of acts that yield rewards. I’m happy to know that he equates my never ending house cleaning to taking care of him, and my impromptu Ted Talks as encouragement. He said that I encourage him but he somehow always knows how to encourage me. I love this kid and how he makes want to keep striving to not just be a better mom, but a better person overall. He’s the best oldest son ever and I’m already proud to be his mom.
No better way to celebrate love weekend than with the perfect proposal. Congratulations & Mike so excited about what your future holds ♥️♥️♥️♥️. @ The Capital Grille (Washington, DC)

I met one of my cousins last night, not a distant cousin but one close enough that he shares my maiden name. To say that is impressive is an understatement. I’m thankful for the wealth of talent, drive, and pure-heartedness that seems to be in our DNA. Oftentimes learning more about your family equates to learning more about yourself.
My youngest child is always “lit,” which is odd because the rest of us are rather chill. Add his excitement to the fact that he’s and imaginative child who watches Power Rangers, and you get random instances of him hauling off and shouting “Let’s do this!” In building took on Brave’s mantra. We decided to post it in our office as a reminder in the not so easy times. Things will get challenging, but I read that fainting in the day adversity means your strength is small and I personally can’t go out like that 😏.
“....the strong start on Sunday.”
This cheesy smile isn’t my favorite, but it’s the most accurate depiction of how I feel about getting back to consulting. When I first became a full time entrepreneur I started off helping existing and aspiring small business owners. I love working with small businesses because so many great companies were once small and with a little vision and strategy they now dominate their markets. Between opening and earning a certificate in Women’s Entrepreneurship from both my knowledge and experience have expanded over the last year. I’m a firm believer that my experiences and knowledge aren’t just for me so I’m excited about working with small business owners who are serious about getting to work this year. My website had a little face lift so go take a peek. Cheers to making your business dreams come true in 2020 and beyond.
My boy’s first basketball game 😢💙🧡.
Since meeting her 18 years ago she’s been a breath of fresh air, a reminder to enjoy life and to look great while doing so. Letting nothing stop her - from undergrad to grad, now pursuing her Doctorate. From random daily texts to showing up in person without fail...my Mimi, our Angel’s “Jamimi,” and my oldest friend. Your sweet countenance has been more comforting than you know. No one can convince my heart that we’re anything less than sisters. Happiest of birthdays ❤️. @ Ga***rd National Resort & Convention Center

Last night I stayed up beyond my intended bed time to make some small tweaks to - updated images, created informative posts, market research, etc. Less than 24 hours later we had 3 new bookings - 2 from new clients. When making these changes I wasn’t thinking about the immediate return, it was more about conducting a check-in to make sure things were up to par. Little did I know these seemingly minor tweaks (that costs nothing but time from my home) would yield MAJOR results.
Sunday is almost over but the fun doesn’t have to be.
