A specific challenge I want to overcome is to be able to feel confident, content, and secure with my soul purpose. I feel it is very challenging when I have so much I want to do, and I just don't know how to push myself to my fullest potential.

What is a specific challenge that you want to overcome?
A specific challenge I want to overcome would be negative self talk and projecting on others.

If you could change one thing about the world today, what would it be?
If I could change one thing about the world it would be removing the existence of hate. I wish all beings on this planet would move in love; love towards this planet, loving themselves, and love towards each other.

Currently I'm following my dreams of working in the live music industry and body modification industry. I've lived in the Bay Area my whole life and am proud to come from a place where I have the privilege to express myself and have a sense of community.

I'd like to overcome my imposter syndrome and allow myself to utilize creative outlets more often as a means of healing.

If you could change one thing about the world today, what would it be?

I would change how people who are systemically disadvantaged are treated in society. I strongly believe in equitable treatment and opportunities for BIPOC & LGBTQ+ people, folks who are born into poverty, who struggle with substance abuse or other mental ailments, and anyone who faces discrimination & bigotry purely for their existence.

I’d like to reintroduce us to MEIS (māz) Salon. We opened April 2019 in hopes of becoming a successful salon like the many others in our area. We began to gain traction but the pandemic hit and things changed. As a new salon we had to find different ways to stay afloat. Thankfully we made it through but not without some growing pains.

Like other salons we also had people come and go which affected the ebb and flow of business. The focus became lost and purpose was misdirected. The positive thing is that we had to remain steadfast in our authenticity. If nothing else we pride ourselves on having and celebrating our diverse staff and clientele. This is the purpose of this post.

We are changing how we post. Instead of posting about color formulas or technique we want to celebrate the people who make MEIS. All of us!!!

Along with your picture are three questions to get to know you better. We want to share in each others challenges and wins! The purpose of our salon has always been to provide a safe inclusive space for all ages, races and genders. We hope that you can find a home salon and if you can’t then we hope to be that for you!

Going from black hair color to any other color always presents it's challenges. But some things just work out. Sending a prayer of thanks to the Color Gods.
