I AM accepting new clients right now and I want to make sure the booking process is as clear and streamlined as I can make it.
Also- please be kind to your stylists these infographics are hard to make 🥺👉🏾👈🏾 took me so long to decide on a design and I'm still not 100% satisfied LOL
We wear every hat you can think of so speak to me nicely!

✨9 hour Color Correction✨
I feel like in every caption the only thing I really wanna say is how grateful I am for each of my guests and the community we’ve built. If we’re spending hours together we gotta vibe!
The lovely found me and trusted me to correct a previous color experience and I’m so glad she did. We were in the salon until 10pm sharing the aux and jammin to dope ass tunes. A very good black ass time was had!
First photos are the final look. The last four are photos from her color consultation appointment.
Do y’all want to hear about what goes into a color correction? Should I share the process? Drop a 👩🏾🔬 in the chat you wanna know 👀

Im always honored and humbled to be the one chosen to turn the hair dream into reality😌🪄 🦋🧞♂️🫐

Fun fact: if you’ve ever booked me for your wedding there was most certainly at least one point where I was off to the side crying cuz I can’t take how beautiful the moment is and I’m just a hopeless romantic that loves love and all its expressions and I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for being able to be a part of making this moment special and beautiful ok bye 😭🤧

This is your reminder to partner with a stylist to get you on a path to your color goals 😌
We did a rose gold a few months ago that faded, but she wants to change the tonal family in the future to something much cooler, so we toned what she had until she’s ready to do another full touch up 😁
By knowing what her short and long term goals are, I can offer her something that won’t conflict with what she wants in the future, and formulate it so that even if she changes her mind we’ll still be set up for success.
A lil throwback to when me, and made some magic 🪄🤩

🎶It’s the journey🎶🎢
Color goals are *almost* always achievable with time, and a solid partnership.
If you’re like me (an impatient fire sign) patience is easier said than done 😮💨 but the results speak for themselves.
Patience and an investment of TIME and CARE (not just finances) is really a requirement for a GOOD and HEALTHY color result.
I’ve had too many lovely humans in my chair with breakage from a “I can get you this light today” situation, OR from not changing their care routine at home. A balance is required. I promise it’s worth it!

I hold so much gratitude in my heart for the amazing humans that partner with me to keep their hair healthy and make their color dreams come true 🫶🏾🥹
No before cuz I forgot 🤷🏾
Peek-a-boo 🫣
If you've been thinking about it, this is your sign to just go for it. 😉
Love you!

✨ The business of being BLONDE✨
I LIVE for vibrant, vivid colors. They are easily my favorite service to do behind the chair. I love the transformation of it all. The emergence from the chrysalis having been completely reborn as a fu***ng BADASS 🔥
But just like any change- it requires real WORK. What does that work look like?
🔨 Accepting that your hair is permanently CHANGED and will need much more attention and care going forward.
🪛 Beginning a partnership with a professional stylist. You don't want someone you just met to color your hair. You want someone to get to know you, and get to know your hair. Especially when your desired look requires chemicals. The better we know your hair, the better your hair will be.
🔧 Being honest with yourself and your capacity for the maintenance required- sure, it's an investment in finances, but it may also require you to make some lifestyle changes. This is especially true if you work out, use heat to style, air-dry etc.
🔩 Understanding FADING. Whenever melanin is removed from the hair whether with bleach or permanent color, you can put whatever color over it or with it, but it will ALWAYS fade. Vivid/fashion colors even more so. Partner with your stylist to create a color refreshing schedule that works for you.
🪚 If you want color, but aren't ready for major changes- you have options! Another reason why partnering with a stylist is so important. You can discuss realistic options for your life and your budget with your stylist. Together you can make your hair dreams come true 🥹
There's so much more but it'll turn this caption into a book 🥴 BUT if you're a color client of mine, then you'll have received the eBook I made that explains this and so much more 🥰
Find me 😉
My color clients - have you received and read my ebook? Has it been helpful for you?
Being an artist is beautiful, humbling, and scary. It requires vulnerability, courage, and responsibility- ESPECIALLY if you choose to put it out into the world and use it to sustain yourself. I've been a small business owner for 3 years and it's been the most daunting task I've ever taken on.
Mama ain't raise no bitch tho 😂 so I keep learning, and picking myself up after a fall, and most importantly- I remain eternally grateful for those who trust me with their crowns, those who have partnered with me in their journey for haircare, and the beautiful community created from the amazing humans that sit in my chair. Some of whom have become dear friends and chosen family.
Keep creating. Art is what you make it. Capitalism fu***ng sucks ass but as long as we can find the beauty as we are forced to participate in it, we can sustain ourselves until we can create the world meant for us 💕
Anotha one. Lol.

Your hair is an expression of who you are 🧚🏾✨
How you wear it, style it, speak to it, love on it- or don't- are reflections of inner work.
What do you want your hair to say about you?
Live freely.
A cute lil Ree Ree fun fact is I love to read. You can find stacks, shelves, and towers of books in every room in my house.
The way my neurodivergence and weak ass adulthood responsibilities are set up, I've had to adjust the way I approach reading- I read several books at a time vs sitting with just one (the books pictured are the ones I'm currently sitting with). I create time for reading vs being able to sit and read all day back when I didn't have bills or children lol.
I buy books all the time. I use my library card all the time. I stop beating myself up about buying books before I've read what I have. Words, language, stories, songs- they're all a huge part of who I am.
Anyone else out there love to read and be around books? What are y'all currently reading? Where the book clubs at? 😭🫶🏾💕
I don't color hair on the first visit. Why? Because I need to get to know your hair. I have to feel it in my hands, test it's limits, etc. We'll be in a better position to achieve any hair goals, but especially color goals, if we proceed with intention. ✨
By creating a plan vs. jumping right in, we're able to cut off dead ends and do a treatment, which prepped her hair and provided a healthy foundation for the color we wanted to do. 🔥
Warm cinnamon brown all over, and a few chunky highlights for this beauty 😍
Swipe to see the before from our first visit, which was a curly cut.
✨Bad Bitch Era Activated✨
I'm genuinely so appreciative of everyone who has ever trusted me with such an important moment as a big chop 🙏🏾
I love seeing the fierce ass phoenix that blossoms out of the pile of hair left on the floor 🔥
We are ever growing 🌱
Went to see The Wiz last weekend with my favorite uncle who also happens to be a phenomenal colorist, and who first inspired me to become a cosmetologist.
Thank you, for letting me be your model way back when, and for always encouraging me, rooting for me, and inspiring me always. I love you 💕
Also, the show was fantastic. They sang the house DOWN

I'm out of captions. Been racking my brain for the last 48 hours lol so just enjoy this lovely haircolor. We did a color removal to get the blue/green that was in from a previous color (last pic is after the removal). Then glazed with a gorgeous bright pink 🩷
✨Trust the process✨
I'm mostly telling this to myself 🥴
First pic is after our 2nd session going lighter. The goal is a light, cool blonde. She will need at least one more session 🤞🏾
Second pic is where we started. Box brown over a self-bleaching.
Thankful to every guest that starts this partnership with me! Whether it's a big project like this, or routine maintenance, choose your stylist well cuz basically we go together real bad!
Constant communication, flexibility, and managing expectations is KEY for any color correction.
🍉
Hey y'all,
I am Clarice, and I'm a licensed cosmetologist in Oakland, CA. I've been behind the chair for 14 years, which sounds crazy AF to me but here I am lol.
I can do, and have done, a little bit of everything; but what I love to do most is creative color and curl care. Why? Because creative color is hella fun and curls and coils are long overdue for their flowers.
I AM accepting new clients.
Some things you should know about me if you're considering me as your stylist:
🌻 Above all- I prioritize the HEALTH of the hair
🌻 Prepare to be fully educated about caring for your hair
🌻 I do NOT perform color services on first time guests
🌻I DO require a patch test and consultation BEFORE any color services are performed
🌻My chair is a safe space for all
🌻I'm with the sh*ts and also the shenanigans
Some things about me, as a person:
🌻I am very unserious
🌻I am a mother
🌻I am a singer
🌻I am a doula
Please note: I am very much anti-establishment

I really love doing Metowi Method Microlinks. It's my favorite extension method. It allows for so much versatility in styling.
It allows for your natural hair to be free
Extensions are texture matched for blend
Requires no braiding, no anchors and no sewing
You can throw it in a ponytail immediately
With regular maintenance, it can last 12 weeks
A great option for both curly and straight hair
Those who have tried it, love it. If you're interested, shoot me a DM 😉
✨"I've never seen my hair this curly"✨
One of the phrases I absolutely LOVE to hear.
Healthy hair is a relationship. Healthy hair is a journey.
I work with you to take your hair to places you never imagined ✨

🎄Don't buy any new electronics. Use your phone until you can't anymore and then buy refurbished. Reduce the demand for these devices so that these poor children in the Congo aren't mining for the copper, cobalt , and other natural resources that go in your phone, your laptop, your electric car and your v**e pens.
🎄Tomorrow 12/11/2023 is a global strike for Palestine. Stay home, don't spend a DIME, and post about Palestine.
🎄Don't stop calling, don't stop emailing, don't stop demanding a PERMANENT CEASEFIRE
🎄 We don't have to live this way. We don't have to be complicit in a genocide. You, yes even you, can help end this reign of terror.
🎄 A strike is the LEAST we can do. We're funding this. Tell them where we want our money to go.

Hey friends.. I think it's time for me to reintroduce myself 🙂
I'm Clarice (they/them) 👋🏾 I've been a stylist behind the chair for almost 14 years, and an educator for about 4 years now. I hail from Oakland, CA, and I'm the founder and owner of House of Curls Studio in Walnut Creek, CA
Coloring and Curl Care are my favorite things to do behind the chair. Painting 🎨🖌️ hair and making curls bounce = one happy Clarice. 🥹
I started HoC because I aim to provide a safe space for my Black and Brown people to feel seen, valued, heard, and appreciated. I want it to be a place where they feel comfortable being themselves, learning about themselves, and knowing that here, they can be free. Doesn't sound like the description of a hair studio right? But that's my passion, and beauty is how I can best express it.
Here's some fast facts about me:
🔥 I'm an Aries ☀️ and Aquarius 🌙 and rising
🔥 I have 4 littles ranging from ages 15-5
🔥 I'm also a doula and founder of a non-profit called Birth Ruckus. We provide Doula services to Black and brown birthing parents in the Bay who otherwise would not be able to access one
🔥 I sing in an amazing, healing choir full of amazing beings (I'm an Alto)
🔥 I love to knit and crochet 🧶 and I can make a MEAN scarf and hat 😂
🔥 My dream is to have a library in my house with a book that is not really a book but a secret access point to another hidden room. 📚
Uhhhh if you made it this far please know My books are OPEN and I AM accepting new clients. All hair types are welcome, just know that I will ALWAYS prioritize Black and Brown folx.
Thank you for reading my dissertation.🤧 *takes bow*
