Welcoming Miss Mira to our 2024-2025 staff!

Miss Mira began dancing at 4 years old in many styles of dance! She later studied at Ascend Dance Center, participating in their Ballet, Jazz, and Hip Hop companies, as well as training in modern dance. Mira began student teaching dance at age 15, volunteering for various age groups and class types.

She recently graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in Biology. During her undergrad, Mira continued her training as a member of Volé Dance Company, where she worked alongside dancers from across the country to create and perform choreography in various disciplines, including contemporary, modern, theatrical jazz, and lyrical. She is so happy to be back at her home studio and is excited to be teaching!

We’re thrilled to have Miss Mira back at the studio, as Miss Kelly had been teaching her since Mira was 10! It’s been a long time coming, and we’re happy to welcome her back home. Miss Mira will be teaching our Saturday classes and our Wednesday Combination classes, so please say hello and welcome her back to her dance family. ❤️

Supervised Lunch Hour is available from 12:00-1:00pm for $20 for the week or $10 for the day. Barbie Dance Camp is immediately before the Supervised Lunch Hour this week, which your child can also join for a full 9:00am-4:00pm day! 🎉👠

Our last day before recital, and our last senior of the year! Here’s our for Andela!

Andela has been dancing since she was four years old at Ascend. She is currently a member of Jazz and Ballet company. Over the years, Andela has taken ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, modern, and practically any class offered! This year, Andela is excited to perform as Odette (the white swan) in Ascend’s Swan Lake!

Andela will be attending University of Pittsburgh with a plan of studying Materials Engineering!

Congratulations Andela, and we’re all so proud of you. ❤️❤️❤️

It’s a very happy Friday at Ascend as we begin celebrating our 2024 graduating seniors for our yearly ! First is Emma! ❤️

Emma has been dancing since she was five years old, and is a member of the senior jazz and ballet companies. Over the years, she has taken ballet, jazz, and Irish classes. This year, Emma is excited to perform as Odile (the Black Swan) in Ascend’s production of Swan Lake!

Emma will be attending Saint Joseph’s University in the fall with the plan of studying Data Science.

A note from Emma: I have loved learning with everyone at Ascend over the past 12 years! You all have had such an incredible impact on my life! To my teachers, thank you so much!!! You have taught me so much more than just dance over the years, and I can’t begin to say how much I appreciate it! And to my friends, I will miss you so much, but I can’t wait to see all of the incredible things you will continue to accomplish! Love you all ❤️❤️

We’re in the thick of recital season at the studio, including classes and rehearsals running everyday. Doesn’t mean we can’t stop and appreciate the beauty of what we have, though. ❤️

My favorite part of spring is when this tree blooms outside our front door and it’s just raining pink flower petals everywhere. 🌸🌸 We get to open all the windows, the sun shines in through our sun lights, and the excitement of recital and rehearsals buzzes in the air. The kids won’t stop talking and being excited and are glowing with the lightness and warmth of spring again.

Beauty inside our studio and out. Our dance family is as gorgeous and unique as this tree. ❤️ Thanks to all who are a member of our family.

4 weeks of Saturday morning classes for just $75, from May 18th through June 8th. Join us for a few classes of music, dance, and a whole lot of fun to finish out the school year!

This is a great opportunity for your child to try dance without much of a commitment, as there’s just enough classes for them to feel comfortable!

We are welcoming our current dancers back after recital if they’d like to continue taking classes for a bit on Saturday mornings with us as well. Come dance with us until school lets out and the summer fun begins! ❤️

What we’ve been working on all year is finally HERE!

Summer dance camps with days and times that are CUSTOMIZABLE to your schedule!

Need a camp in the morning only? Camp in the afternoon only? Want that extra hour of quiet for lunch? How about a full day camp? Fridays included? You can only come to camp Monday, Wednesday, and Friday? YEP. All able to be done. All fully controllable by you!

This time around, we’re only charging a $25 registration fee to lock it all in, and then will be charging full camp tuition two weeks before camp starts. That’s $25 RIGHT NOW to secure your child’s spot in up to FOUR weeks of summer dance camp fun. Save your spot now, because these WILL fill up!

We’re starting back up TOMORROW, and run a dance fitness class every other Friday for our “elder millennials”!

Want some hip hop cardio, laughter, and new friends? Come join us!

Each class is packed with a true dancer’s warm up, hip hop dance cardio to some club hits from the 80’s-2000’s, an ab workout, and a stretching and strengthening session at the end built specifically for taking good care of our bodies. Taught by a real dance teacher and dancer, with our aging bodies in mind and an understanding for how to care for them.

Come have some fun, dance it out, burn some calories, and feel BETTER leaving and waking up in the morning. You’ve got this. ❤️

With this storm, the strong winds, the severe flooding, and the roads not being well drained, we’re worried for everyone’s safety. Please stay home tonight, stay warm, and have some back up plans in case trees come down and the power goes out.

We will hopefully see you all tomorrow if the polar vortex’s return doesn’t freeze all this rain and flooding on the roads.

Traditions continue, as graduating seniors leave their ornaments on our tree. ❤️

Many of you might notice our studio tree in the lobby, but you may not know that almost every ornament on that tree was left by a graduating senior. They give to our studio as much as they take over the years, and these ornaments are little pieces of every student who has passed through our doors, grown up with us, and left us with dreams to chase.

This year, it’s Andela and Emma’s turn, and we are so thrilled to continue this tradition with them. You both will do so much good in the world, and we continue to be thankful to spend so many years with you both. ❤️
