Blue is a color well-known for its calming, tranquil qualities. It radiates a sense of peace and serenity and helps us to feel at ease.

I'm really excited about this Design Concept that I completed this morning for a lovely family in Leesburg. They're looking to remodel their hall bathroom (shared by 2 teenage girls) with a focus on clean-lined style, easy-to-maintain materials, and multi-functional fixtures (like a 2-in-1 shower head, a pull-out spray faucet, and a fully mirrored medicine cabinet).

The pops of blue bring life to the space and nicely complement the champagne bronze fixtures and white cabinetry.

One of my favorite projects from the first half of this year was a Sunroom transformation for a lovely couple in Arlington. The wall of doors brought in a lot of natural light, but the dark and heavy furnishings felt out of place. The new furniture & decor are light and calming to match the vibe of this sunny, relaxing space! 💛🤩

Shopping for fabrics and finishes was really enjoyable - I'm a visual and tactile person, so the showroom visits are always fun!

The clients love their new furniture and the refreshed room. (I hope to get some professional photos of the room soon; in the meantime, check out the before pictures.)

It's a very good day when clients text photos of their beautiful, new closets that were just installed! 🤩🤩🤩 These closets aren't huge, but the bright, well-designed systems allow for efficient and organized storage to fully use the space! When a small, poorly arranged, and overly cluttered teenager's bedroom gets transformed into a space that is well-organized, nicely laid out, and appointed with stylish, budget-friendly items, her space can really shine and allow her to thrive!

Not every project needs to be a full re-design with all new items and a high price. Sometimes, a budget-minded "facelift" is the best solution. By using existing, foundational pieces and adding the right, new pieces, the updated space will feel cohesive and intentional.

For this guest bedroom, we repurposed the beautiful, white desk by moving it into this room from a different room. We then sourced and purchased a new desk chair, desk lamp, accent chair & pillow, ottoman, nightstand, table lamp, bed pillow, and wall art. These new items embraced the black, white, and beige color palette of the existing bedding and resulted in a well-styled, inviting retreat for guests.

Total budget for this room? Less than $2500!

Do you have a bathroom that has good bones but needs a "facelift"? We transformed this Hall Bathroom by updating some items (wallpaper, faucet, mirror, sconces, accessories, window treatments, and shower fixtures), but we kept the existing pedestal sink, toilet, floor tile, and shower tile.

Et voila! 🤩 The space looks bright, fresh, and inviting without having the inconvenience or cost of a full remodel!

I love my clients, and I also love their pets! Anyone who knows me, knows I'm an animal lover. Here's a photo of one of my favorite dogs to visit with - the adorable, loveable, boisterous Maisie! And Francis, the cat, is making a cameo, too! 😄 No matter how busy my day is, I'll always take a moment to give some love to the furry members of the family! 🥰

It's great to start the week with a nice compliment from a happy client:

What started as an under-utilized, spare room/office was remodeled into a beautiful, bright, and organized office! (Pro photos to come, but I was too excited to share this transformation to wait for the photo shoot.)

We added recessed ceiling lights, a wall of built-in shelves, and decorative trim and crown molding. We installed grasscloth wallpaper and repainted the ceiling and trim in a crisp white. We replaced the carpet with hardwood flooring. We then added an area rug and a sleeper sofa (for the occasional guest). The result is a welcoming space for work and guests!

In the interior design industry, everyone loves before-and-after photos. So here is a simple "facelift" to show how a little bit of effort and money can make a BIG difference in the style! From candy-striped, granny style to moody, modern-transitional style, this small, uniquely shaped Powder Room now feels welcoming and stylish.

I always strive to provide great attention to detail in all of my work. Today, I was complimented on just that by a client saying "Thanks for your typically thorough analysis."

We've been working on redesigning an office into a guest bedroom and searching for the perfect sleeper sofa. Interestingly, I discovered that the different mattress styles on the same Pottery Barn sofa (memory foam, "deluxe", and trundle) all had different overall dimensions! The client hadn't noticed that and was just focused on the mattress feel. The leg style varied, too. I created a visual so he could compare and contrast the measurements, features, and pricing.

It was a very useful exercise in helping the client select the best sofa for the room and his needs. Attention to detail is key to successful design!

We're very excited about this fully approved Design Concept! This Family Room will be transformed from dark, oversized, and old-fashioned to bright, well-proportioned, and up-to-date! We are sticking with the current wood furniture (large entertainment unit, coffee table, side table, and chest) and adding new upholstered furniture (sofa, recliner, and swivel-glider chair) and accessories (lamps, pillows, tray, wall mirror, and area rug) to create a lighter, inviting, sophisticated color palette and updated style. We can't wait to see the end result once the furniture is delivered!

That feeling you get when you see the **STUNNING** grasscloth wallpaper and built-in bookcases installed in your client's office after lots of time searching for the right paper, designing the bookcases, coordinating with trades, and paying careful attention to all of the details. Today is a win! 🏆 ❤️ 😀

Who doesn't love a before-and-after comparison?? Check out this beautifully renovated kitchen - it's what we call a "facelift" - most of the existing cabinets stayed and were repainted; a new, larger island was installed (with built-in trash bins and a drawer microwave); new closed-door cabinets replaced the desk area; and new countertops, backsplash, plumbing, hardware, and lighting really make this kitchen shine!
