Institute for Asian Pacific American Leadership and Advancement - iapala
IAPALA was established in 2011 to build capacity with local and national AAPI organizations. IAPALA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
With our sister organization, APALA, we advance broader education, civic engagement, and capacity building for our communities.

The IAPALA COVID-19 Community Fund helps workers and their families with direct financial support.
$$ for the COVID-19 Community Fund will go directly to AAPI and immigrant workers who need our help - like Peejay.
Peejay is doing crucial work supporting incarcerated folks. Because he is under parole, Peejay is restricted to a 50 mile radius of travel, prohibiting him from visiting his family who have been hit hard by the pandemic through incarceration, unemployment, ineligibility for federal funds, and illness. Our fund was able to support his family.
Can you help us support workers + organizers in our communities?

8% of the US Postal Service workforce is AAPI. 40% are women.
These are GOOD UNION jobs 💪
For these workers - a USPS job has meant a steady income with adequate benefits to provide support to their families and communities.

With this new resolution, APALA resolves to:
✅Work towards becoming an anti-racist organization
✅Leverage our power to build and deepen the investment of the labor movement and AAPI movement partners to stand in solidarity with the Movement for Black Lives
✅Hold unions and elected reps accountable for how they maintain structural racism and cause harm
✅Promote the defunding and demilitarization of the police and the investment in Black communities by reallocating funds to education, housing, mental health, and other programs
