Jeff’s unique style of servant leadership developed over three decades working with Four Seasons, Viceroy, Proper, The Watergate, and The Knickerbocker. What a moment! 🎉 Our first birdSEED Foundation community event was a huge success, and we're grateful for the incredible support. Together, we celebrated the power of reparative justice, honored Bo Menkiti with the "Flock Housing Justice Award," and raised funds for a life-changing downpayment grant. The energy to create even more change was ignited! Thank you for taking action and working towards a just future.
As the demand for our no-strings-attached down payment grants continues to grow, we find ourselves in urgent need of additional resources. In this grant round alone, we received a staggering 232 applications, yet our existing funds could only support three deserving grant recipients. Each and every contribution, no matter the size, directly changes lives and helps us expand our reach. Together, let's create more opportunities for aspiring BIPOC first-time homebuyers and build a just future. Link below to donate! https://www.birdseed.org/donate

Our May newsletter is out! Follow the link to learn about what birdSEED has accomplished so far in 2023!
birdSEED Housing Justice Grants Newsletter birdSEED’s mission is to close the racial wealth gap by supporting residents of historically disadvantaged communities to achieve home ownership. We do this by making down payment assistance grants to first time BIPOC homebuyers. This is our only activity.
We owe a huge ✨THANK YOU ✨ to for their support of birdSEED.
Last month, Ever/Body opened their Logan Circle location with a bang, and highlighted us during their opening event. A portion of all sales at that event was donated to birdSEED, on top of some individual donations. Thanks to Ever/Body, we received a generous $6,000 in donations, which directly impacted the amount we were able to give during our latest grant round.
Thank you to the Ever/Body team for seeing the potential of our first-time homeowner grants and helping us power homeownership for BIPOC families in DC. We appreciate you! 🕊️
! We have had quite a few grantees close on homes so far this Spring, and we are feeling inspired! This is our grant recipient David outside his new home in PG County.
As David told us, "The first time buying a home can be scary, frustrating, and stressful. But knowing you have support can help the process go by more smoothly and give you time to enjoy this experience as well. With birdSEED’s financial support, I can get a place that I would live in for a long time. I can get a house of my own and start a new phase of my life."
Congratulations, David!!!
