π οΈ Working for You: AAPIA's Latest Efforts to Support Public Adjusters! π οΈ
Hello, Public Adjusters and Industry Friends!
We're excited to share what the American Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (AAPIA) has been working on to support our industry and protect your interests. π
π¨ Current Focus: Public Adjusting Model Act π¨
We've identified several critical issues with the current draft of the NAIC Public Adjusting Model Act, and we're taking action to ensure fair and effective regulations. Here's what we're fighting for:
πΉ Fair Compensation: The proposed 15% cap on compensation could make it tough for public adjusters to assist with smaller claims. We're advocating for a review to ensure you can continue to provide top-notch services to all clients.
πΉ Streamlined Licensing: Moving between states can be a hassle due to inconsistent licensing rules. We're pushing for streamlined processes and grace periods similar to those for producers, making your transitions smoother and less burdensome.
πΉ Clear Advertising Rules: Current advertising clauses are too restrictive and unclear. We're working on amendments to ensure you can communicate effectively and fairly with consumers.
πΉ Right to Professional Assistance: An insured shall have the right to obtain assistance on a claim from a licensed professional or licensed entity. We're emphasizing the need for a clear clause to protect their interests and ensure they get the support they need.
We've asked the NAIC Consumer Licensing (D) Task Force to postpone the vote on the Public Adjusting Model Act scheduled for August 13. This will give us time to address these crucial issues and work towards a solution that benefits everyone.
Your support and feedback are invaluable as we continue our advocacy efforts. Stay tuned for updates, and thank you for being a part of this incredible community! Together, we can shape a brighter future for public adjusters and the clients we serve. πͺ

AAPIA is the National Home of the Public Adjusting Profession.
We have learned that what happens in one state does transition to another state. We have seen this with the Kentucky legislation that was used by NCOIL in their national model act and is still having ripple effects in other states.

Attended the NAIC conference to contribute to the Public Adjuster Model Act that has been re-opened by the NAIC.
Currently there is a 15% fee cap on Public Adjusters proposed in the bill. AAPIA is working hard to make a difference regarding the proposed model legislation.
It is easy to think that somebody else will solve these problems, but when it comes down to it, there is nobody else. We are those people. The ones protecting our industry and making a difference.
