Here’s the thing. There’s way too much to say about these two women that would require 59 Instagram posts. So we’re going to break down a lot. We encourage you to go find all the information.
There are countless, nameless individuals that have pushed forward.
When the happened, Marsha P Johnson and Sylvia Rivera stepped up and got loud as leaders in the movement.
They marched. Protested. Created safe housing options for homeless trans youth in the 70’s.
These two forces of nature stamped the letter “T” in . These forces of nature were instrumental in early acknowledgment of rights and equal treatment. From their early steps taken, other movements have been able to stand - somewhat quite literally on the shoulders of Marsha and Sylvia.
June 1 - the day everything gets covered with rainbows and glitter.
Before was a celebration of all things , it began as an uprising.
On June 28, 1969 at the Stonewall Inn in NYC a police raid set into motion events that would morph into what we have today.
While names of actual people involved are uncertain and many different accounts tell the tale of who threw the first bottle, most accounts of that night credit a handcuffed and beaten Le***an with shouting to the crowd to do something.
And the crowd rose up. Throwing rocks, bottles, loose change, anything they could at the police that had come into a safe space and threatened the humanity of those inside. It was the spark that began a movement.
The first were held in four cities across the USA a year later. And they grew in volume and voice. Get out there and celebrate your power, your voice, your uniqueness - but don’t forget the activists that lived the uprising and demanded rights and freedoms that were still fighting for decades later.

Alright everybody, big (HUGE) news time!
In about 3 weeks' time, Carrie and I will be moving to LA!!
Specifically West LA, in the Sawtelle Japantown district.
We are really excited about this new journey, but of course sad to leave our home in DC after 5 happy years.
We have truly loved living in this city, and we are only leaving because we felt it was time for a new chapter and some new adventures!
As for how this will affect my teaching, because of the move to zoom over the last two years much of my virtual schedule will actually remain intact. Of course, I will have to give up my in-person classes in DC, but I hope to rebuild my live class schedule soon after we have settled from our move. If anybody has any good yoga contacts in LA, do let me know... ;)
Once we have relocated and settled, this is my anticipated online schedule:
Monday 12pm EST - Flow via Dragons Breath Yoga Dragon's Breath Yoga
Wednesday 12pm EST - Flow via Dragons Breath Yoga
Thursday 12pm EST - Yin via Circle Yoga Circle Yoga
Thursday 7:15pm EST - Yin via Dragons Breath Yoga
Sunday 9am EST - Level 1/2 via Circle Yoga
Sunday 10:15am EST - Level 2 via Circle Yoga
This may of course change/evolve over time, but I'm so happy to be keeping so much of my online schedule, even though I'm moving thousands of miles away!
I will obviously need to sub all of my classes for the move starting on 5/23, but I plan to be back online the week of 6/6.
If you are in the DC area and would like to connect before I leave, don't hesitate to DM me!
Here’s your -

What’s in a name?
The dragon has been misunderstood and made to be the villain. The fire of their breath is thought to be destructive but in reality, it is a controlled burn. Dragons breathe with purpose and with each inhale and exhale, they focus intention. Dragon eyes see all and when they need to focus their strength, power, and magick, they use their breath. When we work with the dragon, we discover our own courage, our passions, and our place in the world. The quest is to ally with the dragon. Never waste another breath.
