On April 11, 2020, D.C. Law 23-71, the Go-Go Official Music of the District of Columbia Designation Act of 2020, became effective. To me, and so many other native Washingtonians, Go-Go music is so much more than just a musical genre. It is the very fabric of the District's cultural and artistic expression. Designating Go-Go the official music of our city represents the lived experiences of native Washingtonians. It codified into law that Go-Go will never be muted in the District of Columbia. Four years down and forever to go!
