Potomac Phil is heading downtown Friday, Feb 2nd!
We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend and collaborator, Silvia Eberly, this past weekend. Silvia holds a special place in our hearts, she was with us eleven years ago at our very first Groundhog Day celebration in Dupont Circle Park. Her vibrant spirit lit up the circle as she strolled around, accordion in hand, filling the cold air with polkas that seemed to echo her boundless enthusiasm.
Over the years, we had the privilege of getting to know Silvia as she became an integral part of our annual celebration. Her love and passion for music were palpable, making her the undeniable star of our event. She crafted an original polka, a lively tune titled "The Potomac Phil Polka," which she joyously performed for us every year, right before Potomac Phil made his predictions. Her music added an extra layer of magic to an already enchanting day. She was immortalized in a beautiful painting by our talented friends at Art Enables.
As we gather every Groundhog Day, Silvia, you will be in our hearts. You were profoundly loved, and you will be deeply missed.
