Exciting News! 🎉

SIO’s 2023 requested changes to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN)’s Sarcoma Guideline have been incorporated. Recent updates to the 2024 National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN)’s Sarcoma Guidelines now include the following interventional oncology interventions:

1. The addition of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) as a treatment option for selective extra-abdominal desmoid tumors;
2. Clarifying embolization procedures to include transarterial bland embolization, chemoembolization, and radioembolization for non-lung metastases treatment.

This is a significant milestone for the field of interventional oncology ( ). A huge thank you to our Sarcoma Guideline task force members:

• Jack Jennings, MD, PhD
• Joseph Erinjeri, MD, PhD
• Daehee Kim, MD
• Amy Deipolyi, MD, PhD, FSIR, SIO NCCN Sub-Committee Chair

Through our partnership with the Society of Interventional Radiology on this advocacy effort, we strive to refine the NCCN's guidelines for kidney, soft tissue sarcoma, breast cancer, pancreatic adenocarcinoma care, and more.
