SIO’s 2023 requested changes to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN)’s Sarcoma Guideline have been incorporated. Recent updates to the 2024 National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN)’s Sarcoma Guidelines now include the following interventional oncology interventions:
1. The addition of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) as a treatment option for selective extra-abdominal desmoid tumors;
2. Clarifying embolization procedures to include transarterial bland embolization, chemoembolization, and radioembolization for non-lung metastases treatment.

The Society of Interventional Oncology submitted updates to the NCCN Guidelines of Colon and Re**al Cancer. Authored by Bruno C. Odisio, MD, PhD, FSIR (lead author); Kamran Ahrar, MD; Juan Camacho, MD; and Ahmad Parvinian, MD, this letter requests specific changes to the NCCN Colon and Re**al Cancer Guidelines, including the acknowledgment of recent data demonstrating the improved outcomes of thermal ablation over surgery for select patients with small colorectal cancer liver metastases; clarification of the distinction between image-guided thermal ablation and other local therapies such as SBRT; and the creation of a specific “Principles of Locoregional Therapy” section. Additionally, the letter requests an increased number of interventional radiologists (IRs) on the panel.
