We may not have hurricanes here in Wisconsin but natural disasters of others kinds can strike anytime. Creating a pet preparedness kit doesn't take much time and can help keep your animals safe if the worst should happen. Find our list of suggested items in the blog below.
Already-brutal storm season underscores need for disaster plans for animals Earlier this week, Hurricane Beryl intensified as a Category 4 storm, continuing a storm season that’s already been called unprecedented. When hurricane season officially started June 1, hundreds of severe weather events had already swept across so many communities during the spring, causing wides...
Way to go La Crosse! 👏👏👏

Breaking: ‘Horrible Hundred’ report exposes American Kennel Club as complicit in puppy mills Some of the findings of our latest Horrible Hundred report sound like scenes from horror films. As we celebrate , it’s important to remember that our treasured wolves in the Great Lakes states continue to need Endangered Species Act protections. Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan have recently updated their wolf management plans, and we sincerely hope that they will honor the will of the public.
However, if wolves lose their federal protections and are returned to state control, Wisconsin wolves would undoubtedly be subjected to a cruel trophy hunting, trapping and hounding season.
Please contact your Wisconsin members of Congress (find them at humanesociety.org/leglookup) to oppose any bills or amendments that would delist wolves, and tell your Wisconsin state legislators (find them at https://maps.legis.wisconsin.gov/) that you oppose Act 169 which mandates a yearly wolf trophy hunting season should wolves lose protections under the Endangered Species Act.
So many wonderful animals in Wisconsin shelters waiting for loving homes! 🐾❤️

We're incredibly thankful to Governor Tony Evers for vetoing three harmful bills! The bills, SB 139 (wolf population cap), AB 512 (hound training expansion) and AB 957 (preemption of animal protection ordinances), were not in the best interest of Wisconsinites and the Governor listened! Keep advocating! Your voice matters!

Who supports AB 957? You might be surprised!
Tomorrow, 1/31/24, the Assembly Committee on Local Government will vote on AB 957. This dangerous bill prevents municipalities from passing numerous animal protection ordinances and nullifies existing ordinances. We're disappointed to see the WI Veterinary Medical Association and the WI State Horse Council register support for this bill. Take a look: http://tinyurl.com/mrwmp9xy
Please urge your state representative and committee members to oppose this radical bill! They should support our long-standing tradition of Home Rule, not circumvent it!
