SHILOH BAPTIST CHURCH, WASHINGTON, DC
PRESENTS A CHRISTMAS COMMUNITY OUTREACH CELEBRATION
FEATURING GEORGE FRIDERIC HANDEL’S “THE MESSIAH”
“O COME ALL YE FAITHFUL”
Sunday, December 10, 2023, at 3:00 pm
1500 Ninth Street, NW Washington, DC
The Shiloh Baptist Church Senior Choir invites everyone to attend its Christmas Community Outreach Celebration, “O Come All Ye Faithful.” Join us for Shiloh Baptist Church’s 84th rendition of the George Frideric Handel’s internationally-celebrated, sacred oratorio “The Messiah” that will be presented by the Shiloh Baptist Church Senior Choir at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 10, 2023, one of the few presentations of “The Messiah” by a black church in the Washington Metro area.
This presentation shares the good news of Advent and continues the African American church tradition of highlighting the talent of young and seasoned black soloists and musicians while reflecting and honoring the rich tradition of the black church of providing a platform to showcase local musical talent featuring:
Dr. Thomas Dixon Tyler, Conductor
Evelyn Simpson Curenton, M.A., Organist
Brandie I. Sutton, Soprano
Anamer Castrello, Mezzo-Soprano
Darius Hardie, Tenor
Edwin J. Davis, Bass/Baritone
An Orchestra Ensemble and American Sign Language Interpretation
“O Come All Ye Faithful” is one of Shiloh’s free musical outreach ministry efforts to "take the church to the community." The free-of-charge performance welcomes the Christmas season with the inspiring message of “The Messiah,” at a time when many in our community are looking for a spiritual compass while facing the escalating struggle with senseless community violence and worldwide political upheaval.
