We are excited for our transition to MHS GENESIS-the new electronic health record (EHR) for the Military Health System! All Military Treatment Facilities in the National Capital Region Market (NCR Market) will adopt the new EHR on 25 March 2023. Our main goal is to ensure our teammates and patients are prepared and well-informed about this new system. To ensure implementation occurs safely, efficiently, and ultimately supports our health care delivery mission there are a few steps that you can take to prepare as we approach this date.
Before March 25, 2023, visit https://myaccess.dmdc.osd.mil to create a DS Logon and establish your MHS GENESIS Patient Portal account. The Patient Portal allows you to speak with your provider via secure messaging, view records and referrals, renew prescriptions, and much more.
In addition to creating a DS Logon, please make routine, well-check exams and health screening appointments early; verify the accuracy of your address and phone information in DEERS; and ensure you request prescription refills early. Prescription refills should be requested when 50% of the prescription is remaining, which would be the 45 day mark for a 90 day refill. Please take care of refills well before the March 25, 2023 transition date to avoid extended wait times in the pharmacy.
Taking these steps collectively will help reduce potential for interruptions in services. This landmark transition to a new EHR means our providers and clinical staff are learning new procedures and workflows. As a result, you may temporarily experience extended wait times for appointments, at the check-in desk, and
in the pharmacy and laboratory. We ask for your patience as we make time for training and adapting. You are at the center of everything we do and we are committed to serving you compassionately and safely on every visit.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and excitement as we transition to a new, modem electronic health record, MHS GENESIS.
