Did you know that Karel Capek's 1920 play was the first time the word "robot" appeared in print? The play was an instant hit, and by 1923 had been translated into 30 languages.

What is a universal robot? Why, it is a robot that is designed for any task! Industrial labor, house-cleaning, assembly lines, secretarial work, warden, child-rearing, etc! For the right price, a universal robot can take on any menial task that you may deem "beneath you"!
What could go wrong?! Find out on Saturday night at our RUR sneak peak. And yes, tickets do come with a beer.

From our Dramaturg Keith Hock on R.U.R:
"The play R.U.R. did more than merely introduce the word "robot" to the lexicon; it also laid the groundwork for the usage of robots in stories going forward, predicting with near-total accuracy the evolution of the genre it single-handedly established."
Join us for our discussion on all things R.U.R on June 1st at 7:30 PM at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop. Tickets available at wehappyfewdc.com/rur

Charitable Giving season starts today!
It is a truth universally acknowledged: We Happy Few is a small non-profit theatre company, and our existence is dependent on ticket sales, grants, and individual donations.
If you like theatre that pushes the boundaries of classical theatre, is women-led, that challenges the status quo, and generally kicks a$$, then we need your help. Consider making a tax-deductible donation today to support local arts.
