Today is Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) Women’s Equal Pay Day. For every dollar earned by white, non-Hispanic men working full-time, year-round in 2022, NHPI women, also working full-time, year-round, only earned 66 cents. The biggest wage gaps experienced by NHPI women are hidden in data that lumps Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander people together.
The wage gap prevents many NHPI women, including NHPI domestic violence survivors, from escaping abuse and creating safer lives for themselves and their children. This isn't okay. Join the social media storm and help raise awareness at 2:00 ET today!

Men who are victims of abuse often worry that nobody will believe them or support them. But abusers can choose to hurt anyone. Societal norms around gender, race, ability, and more often lead people to make assumptions about who “counts” as a victim and who “deserves” access to services. That’s not okay.
It’s important to think about how you can support any victim or survivor in your life and to challenge your own notions of who might experience abuse. More information and resources: https://bit.ly/3F8PhMv

Would it be okay if I looked up more information or resources for you?" NNEDV logo at bottom.]

Today is World Senior Citizens' Day and it's a great day to learn about the signs of elder abuse and how you can support older survivors in your life. Some signs include:
💙 Physical wounds, especially if they have been intentionally left untreated.
💙 A caregiver’s refusal to allow others to be alone with, or speak to, the older person.
💙 Unusual changes in behavior, including fear of a person who may be the abuser.
💙 Sudden changes in finances, valuable items, or financial documents, like a will.

Pregnancy is a very dangerous time for domestic violence survivors, and preventing pregnant survivors from divorcing abusers can be deadly. NNEDV is grateful for the leadership of Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II and Congresswoman Valerie Foushee for recognizing these serious risks and introducing the Pregnancy Empowerment Act, which would prohibit any jurisdiction from requiring the disclosure of a person’s pregnancy status when filing for divorce.
