Video Celebrating Filipino food and culture with creatives behind Purple Patch restaurant 05/11/2024

Happy Mother’s Day Mom. This is a dream that could never have been dreamt from your home in Bicol. Thank you for all of your sacrifices, I Love You ❤️.

A special thank you to Patty See, the amazing producer from ABC, who remembered me from a Kamayan Dinner that I did for her years ago. She sought me out for this story even though at first I said no because I wanted to protect my mother, she was scared. I would like to also thank Christiane Cordero, my mom was so happy that a Filipina was interviewing us and helping us share our story, and a big thank you to the best camera duo, Paul Dougherty & Tom Staton.

Video Celebrating Filipino food and culture with creatives behind Purple Patch restaurant ABC News’ Christiane Cordero reports on the mother-daughter duo, chefs Patrice Cleary and Alice Hammond, who are behind Purple Patch restaurant which celebrates dishes from their Filipino heritage.

It comes with a heavy heart to say that I will be closing Purple Patch for the rest of the year.

With the recent exposure to positive tests and guidance from the CDC I am giving my staff time to get some much needed rest and then have everyone test before coming back.

We will re-open our patio and take-out on Monday January 3rd!

Be Safe & Have A Happy New Year!!

12/28/2021

With the rapid rate at which Covid is being transmitted regardless of being vaccinated I will be closing my indoor dining until further notice. I think there are a great number of us who believed that if we were vaccinated then we were a bit safer, unfortunately as we have come to see this is not the case.

We will still be offering outdoor dining in our beautiful heated streeterie as well as take out. I kindly ask everyone who visits to be respectful and wear your mask when not eating, drinking or walking through our restaurant. This message does not come easy for me as the holidays are a tough time for everyone but I know that this is the right thing to do to protect my staff, their loved ones and our cherished guests.

I thank everyone for their continued support for us over the years and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Best Wishes,

Patrice Cleary
Chef/Owner

Happy Birthday Marines! November 10th marks the 246th year of the birth of the Marine Corps when the Second Continental Congress passed a resolution that established two battalions of Continental Marines.

Semper Fidelis , “Always Faithful” in Latin to those that have served before me, with me and continue to serve! There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the Marine Corps helped prepare me to be mentally strong, to adapt and overcome and to lead by example. I am forever grateful to be called, “The Few, The proud, The Marines”, Semper Fi!

This was the last Marine Corps Ball that I attended and was a guest therefore I did not have to wear my uniform. Pictured with General Gray the 29th Commandant, General Neller the 37th Commandant and Commander Michael Piano.

🌴 🥥 INFANTA LAMBANOG 🥥🌴
Boy are we excited to finally get our hands on this delicious coconut liquor 🤤 we’ve got some exciting new drinks coming up for the winter. Stay tuned! 🍹 🍸 🥃
“Infanta Lambanog is the only double-gold award-winning Lambanog, 40% abv, of the Philippine Islands. Our Lambanog is craft-distilled from organic coconut-palm nectar, harvested by generations of plantation farmers to source nectar from budding flowers of coconut palm trees.

Lambanog is the original craft spirit of the Philippines. It's story is rich, but almost forgotten, in the history of distilled spirits.” 🌴 🇵🇭

❗️👁❗️REDEYE NIGHT MARKET❗️👁❗️
[ REPOST: ]
“Being a Filipino-American representing Filipino food in our Nation's Capital is not only a dream but an honor.

Growing up with a mother that was always trying to hold on to her identity through food but still trying to acclimate herself and her children to the “American” way of life was not always easy.

The struggles and the challenges that she and so many have gone through can only be preserved by acknowledging their efforts and honoring them by bringing their recipes to life.

Like many, I share the same fond memories of cooking with my mother in the kitchen, never with a recipe but a heart full of love and passion for what she loved doing.

Closing my eyes I can still remember smelling, tasting and hearing her cook for us. She is why I continue to cook with the same passion, so that her memories of her childhood can continue to live on.

Long live Filipino food, may it forever be known as the comfort food for our soul and the happiness to our hearts.

It is an honor to be a part of DC’s first ever Asian inspired night market and cultural street festival. Our community has been through many challenges throughout this past year and I can’t think of a better way for us to come together.” - Chef Patrice Cleary from

Be excited because we’ll be offering an ube waffle & pork belly sandwich 🤤💜🇵🇭
