In the wake of yesterday’s stock market selloff representing the worst trading day in two years, Prosperity Now issued the following statement calling on the Federal Reserve to consider early action on interest rates rather than waiting for the Board’s next meeting in September.
“The Federal Reserve Board was largely successful in its goal of cooling inflation with its successive rate hikes in 2022 and 2023, but there is now a preponderance of evidence that interest rates are impeding investment and growth,” said Marisa Calderon, President and CEO of Prosperity Now.

Prosperity Now releases its statement on the July jobs report.
“While Forty-three consecutive months of job growth is an incredible achievement, we are concerned by the month-over-month uptick in unemployment and the fact that growth missed expectations,” said Marisa Calderon, President and CEO of Prosperity Now. “This could very well signify that previous interest rate hikes that have done a good job cooling inflation are starting to erode job creation as potential borrowers—specifically small business and minority business and homeowners find it more difficult to afford loans.”

Marisa Calderon, President and CEO of Prosperity Now, and Brad Blower, Founder and Principal of Inclusive Partners LLC, share their opinion on the Biden Administration’s need to pave the way for a rapid end to appraisal bias.

Now, more than three years since the PAVE task force launched, we are all still waiting on the promise of a fundamental change in the appraisal industry to finally bear fruit.”
