Herd on the Hill
We continue to push for progressive policies. UPDATE FROM MARCH 2020: LETTER DELIVERY IS ON INDEFINITE HOLD DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
Founded 2/7/17, and until the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Herd on the Hill used our proximity to Congressional offices to deliver letters from fellow Americans to their reps in Congress. PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT LETTERS. YOU MAY CALL YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS ANYTIME ON 202-224-3121. THEIR INDIVIDUAL WEB PAGES WILL CONTAIN PHONE NUMBERS TO THEIR STATE OFFICES. 🚨THE FINAL WEEKEND 🚨
🔥calling all NEW YORK CITY-area Friends of the Herd! 💥
The Herd is part of a team trying to fill three more buses with door-knocking volunteers for Pennsylvania canvassing for Harris/Walz this Saturday, November 2. That's tomorrow!
Volunteers would leave New York City at 8am sharp, head to northeast Philadelphia and complete two canvassing shifts (with a break in between), boarding the bus back to NYC around 6pm.
It's satisfying work, and you're doing it with like-minded people!
Friends, please do two things:
1. Tag your New York-area friends in the comments
2. DM us if you want more info
💥 LET'S LEAVE IT ALL ON THE FIELD 💥
Jimmie Lee Jackson, age 26, earned $6 a day as a pulpwood cutter in Marion, Alabama.
In February 1965, he was shot dead by a state trooper during a civil rights protest.
In his obituary, The New York Times noted that Jackson “has become interested in the campaign headed by Dr King and others to abolish restrictions on voting in the Alabama Black Belt, a campaign that began in mid-January in nearby Selma.”
With tears in his eyes, Dr King spoke at Jackson’s funeral. “We must not be bitter and we must not harbor ideas of retaliating with violence,” he said. “We must not lose faith in our white brothers.”
In the names of Jimmie Lee Jackson and so many others who pushed tirelessly for voting rights, vote.
Rev James Reeb traveled from Boston to Alabama in 1965 to support the voting rights efforts put in place by Dr King, John Lewis and many others.
He and two other ministers were attacked by five white men, one wielding a club. Reeb died two days later from his wounds.
In Reeb's memory, vote.

**RURAL KANSAS,** folks.
We are NOT going back!
The time to volunteer to send letters to voters is winding down.
But the time to volunteer to cure ballots? It’s now!
Ballot curing is simply alerting a voter that they forgot to sign their ballot, or use the security sleeve. It’s letting them know they can cast a new ballot and ensure their voice is heard!

Elon Musk’s PAC is running this ad.
Would the eligible male voters in your lives tolerate even the suggestion of this vulgar, sexist epithet to describe their daughters, sisters, mothers and wive?
There is only one way to combat this hate: Vote Harris/Walz.
It’s not terribly difficult to draw a line between Rev Joseph Carter, whose full story is in the comments, and the racist depravity on display last night in Madison Square Garden.
In the name of Rev Carter, vote.
Dear Sen Lisa Murkowski
You picked a bad election to very publicly sit out.

Friends of the Herd:
Where do the men in your lives stand on this critical election?
Is there one more tough conversation you can have?
Is there one more call you can make?
Is there one more Undecided you can try to tilt to our side?
Yet another volunteer opportunity

Friend of the Herd Pat shared this important information about provisional ballots.
First, a quick definition:
"Provisional ballots are a backup voting method intended to allow voters who cannot establish their eligibility at the polling place to cast their ballot and have it counted."

Write Letters to Voters! In 2020, Blue Revers wrote hundreds of thousands of letters to swing state voters. That election came down to about 45K votes in three states. LET'S DO IT AGAIN! These letters WORK to get out the vote. And this year's election will come down to RAZOR thin margins in just a few states. So let's go! S...

Helping Progressives Amplify their Voices
To send us a letter, go to our partner HTTP://STAMPSLICKED.ORG
Americans of all political affiliations have been jamming the phone lines of their Congressional representatives to voice their fears about the Trump administration and the policies it is attempting to advance. They often find their efforts to petition their government stymied by busy signals, full voice mailboxes, unanswered emails, and increasingly rare town hall meetings.
That's where we come in.
Week after week, Herd on the Hill -- many of us disenfranchised residents of the District of Columbia, who have no voting member of Congress -- take advantage of our proximity to their offices to convey constituents' stories to elected officials.
We share your concerns directly and unavoidably with the folks who work for you: your elected officials in the US Congress. Go to https://stampslicked.org to write a personal letter with your photo. StampsLicked will address it to your Members of Congress based on your mailing address, transmit it to print in our DC office, and send you a copy by email. Then Herd on the Hill volunteers deliver and discuss your letter at the DC offices of your Senators and Representatives.
