We've always said that keeping a mother raccoon from her babies is a big no-no. She will do just about anything to get back to them. Maybe we were speaking the truth? 😂

One of the things I love most is the caring people we meet.
This squirrel has mange and the couple who saw him in their yard wondered if we could help.
The husband just made a trip here after work to pick up the medicated Ivermectin balls.
His wife is recovering from surgery and loves watching the birds and squirrels outside. That gives her lots of enjoyment to pass the time while she is recuperating to watch the birds and squirrels and they are worried about this squirrel.
Bless this husband and prayers for his wife that she has a good recovery. ♡♡♡ Terese

The hot line is getting lots of calls on baby bunnies falling down in window wells.
If the bunny is about the size of a small tennis ball, they are on their own and can be released where there is lots of cover.
But first, we ask for a picture of the bunny when the calls come in, and for the caller to lift the fur on the back between 2 fingers. If the fur quickly falls back down then the bunny is hydrated and if not injured, the bunny can be released.
Some bunnies have been in the window well too long and are severely dehydrated and even with fluids given under the skin, they dont survive.
Best solution to remedy this is to put a cover on your window well to prevent this from happening.
If you would like to help us care for the Wildlife we get in, you can go to blackhawkwildliferehab.com and click on donate. Thank you for caring! ♡♡♡
Do you have cans and bottles that you need to redeem? Last Hope has an account at the Can Shed locations in CR so you can take them there and request that the money be put on our account.
We will also accept clean, well-bagged cans and bottles at the Adoption Center between 9:00 and 3:00 Monday through Saturday. Or by appointment.
If you have A LOT of bags of cans and bottles and live in the IC/CR corridor, we can arrange for a volunteer to pick them up.
We appreciate donations of your recycling!
Here is an Angel On Earth!! We put out a request for someone to cut up our beef hearts into raptor sized pieces and this kind man said he would help!
Thank you, David! This will be so very wonderful to have them packaged in ready to go quart sized bags to feed the birds of prey!
♡♡♡

We provide all the necessary training. You can sign up for only the shifts that work in your schedule. We do require all volunteers to be at least 18.
If you're interested in joining the team, please complete a volunteer application at https://adopthope.org/get-involved/.
