Marcia Mullikin started the William F. Mullikin Police Science Scholarship to honor her husband after his untimely death. This spring it was awarded to Maranda Crotty, who is pictured here with Marcia. Maranda is a 2013 graduate from Dike-New Hartford High School and will be completing the Police Science program at Hawkeye this May. Congratulations, Maranda!

The Travis Wittmayer Scholarship for the Profoundly Deaf was awarded to Preston Faust, Johnny Duarte, and Beh Reh for the spring 2024 semester. Preston is a 2023 graduate from Jesup High School and will be completing the CNC Machining & Tool-Making Technology program in May 2025. Johnny is a 2022 graduate from Don Bosco High School and will be completing the General Studies program this May. Beh is a 2023 graduate from Waterloo West High School and will be completing the Sustainable Construction and Design program in May 2025. The Jimmy Robinson Scholarship was awarded to Emma Baker and Ashley Graas for the spring 2024 semester. Emma is a 2021 graduate from East Buchanan High School and will be completing the Human Resource Management program this May. Ashley is a 2006 graduate from Lawton Chiles High School, Tallahassee, Florida, and will be completing the Cybersecurity program at Hawkeye Community College in May 2025. The Tommy Burns Scholarship was established with the Hawkeye Foundation by the family of Tommy Burns to honor his memory. This semester, the scholarship was awarded to Colton Smith. Colton is a 2015 graduate of Waterloo West High School and is currently enrolled in the Police Science program, with plans to graduate in 2023.

The Andrew and Marlys Puhl Memorial Scholarship was established with the Hawkeye Foundation by Luanne Puhl to honor the memory of her parents and to give back to the profession that gave so much to her. This semester, the scholarship was awarded to Kristian Twyman. Kristian is a 2009 graduate of New Madrid County Central High School, New Madrid, Missouri, and is currently enrolled in the Medical Laboratory Technology program. She plans to graduate in 2023.

Hawkeye student Macy Mommer of Strawberry Point is a recipient of a $1,000 scholarship made possible through the American Legion of Iowa Foundation. Macy currently serves in the U.S. Army National Guard as a platoon head medic. This ignited her passion for health care and she is currently pursuing a degree in Nursing. A second recipient of a $1,000 scholarship will be determined in August.

The scholarship was presented by Bob Wenger, District III Foundation Director of the American Legion of Iowa Foundation. Founded in 1978, the foundation provides financial assistance to promote Americanism, youth programs, veteran's rehabilitation, and community service in Iowa.

Congratulations Tiara!

On May 15, 2022, the Cedar Falls Amvets Post 49 hosted a scholarship ceremony. As part of the ceremony, the Sons of Amvets presented the Larry Williams Scholarship to Tiara Davenport-Sisk. Tiara is a 2003 graduate from Waterloo West High School and is majoring in Hospitality Management at Hawkeye Community College. Her goal is to open up a high end bed and breakfast called Tee's Bed & Breakfast.
