A Glorious Quilt
If you have, you share. If you can, you help.
Took a break from making pillowcases because I received this amazing fabric. Now I'm designing a quilt that will be donated to Friends Forever Animal Rescue. It will be used as part of a fundraiser for them in August.
The school year is finally over. Time for fun in the sun and quilting. My first charity project is making pillowcases. I have some fun fabrics. The kids should love them.
Only 10 weeks until Christmas. Quilt orders are coming in quickly. At this time, I only have 4 bookings remaining. If you need a custom quilt or t-shirt quilt for Christmas, confirm your order before all spots have been filled.
Now that summer is over, let's celebrate autumn and prepare for winter (and Christmas)! I love these two wall hangings.
As everybody knows, I love to make quilts. But I also love to make items to donate. All of my proceeds are used to make donation items. Yesterday John and I dropped off 200 packs of Bonding Squares to St. Joseph's NICU. They allowed us to go right into the NICU unit. The nurse was very happy to receive them.
A friend of mine had a great idea. Her cousin was having a baby and she wanted a special baby quilt made. She gathered up clothing and special fabric items from the new baby's grandmothers. We combined them all into an adorable baby quilt
A co-worker wanted me to make a quilt for her son. She didn't want any piecing, just Cambridge blue fabric on one side, and slightly darker fabric on the other. It took me a long time to find the right colors and combinations that didn't have much design on the fabric. I finally found them. I couldn't understand why she didn't why any piecing, but she was insistent. Personally, I love a quilt that has been pieced. But what is most important is that she loved it and her son loved it.
The Villanova quilt was gifted today. They shared a pic with me.
One of my co-workers saw that I was making NICU bonding squares. She wanted to be a part of it, so she gave me money to buy materials. I had enough to buy enough material to help 20 families. Thank you!!
Working on my next batch of bonding squares. Finished about 100 squares today, which will help about 25 families.
Finished the top. Just waiting for the fabric to arrive to make the back. Once I have it, I can get it quilted, and then the binding work begins. This is just a sneak peek. I won't show the actual quilt until the owner has it in their possession.
Progress. I would have more done, but at work, it is Regents week, the last week of the semester, and I am prepping for Abnormal Psychology which starts next week. Pretty sure we're going to have a snow day tomorrow. Always a nice bonus day at home.
Here's the basic layout. Now time to start assembling.
They're ready to trim up and assemble.
Time to start another T-Shirt quilt. The theme is "Villanova"!!!
Very productive weekend. I made 200 bonding squares.
Now just waiting on my order of bags to get them ready for delivery to St. Joseph's NICU.
One main focus this year will be on "giving."
My first project is making Bonding Squares that will be donated to the NICU at St. Joseph's Hospital in North Syracuse.
What are Bonding Squares?
Bonding squares are intended to help NICU families to bond with their babies through smell—one of the most developed senses in premature infants. One bonding square can be worn against the parent’s skin, and one can be left with the baby in the isolette. Each day, the squares can be swapped so that the baby has the parent’s scent and the parent has the baby’s scent.
A Glorious Quilt is looking forward to the New Year. We are excited for the changes coming up. Stay tuned.......

I love making quilts out of other people's clothing so they can hold onto their memories. A mom gave me her son's hockey jerseys to turn into a quilt. I posted a few of the initial pics of the jerseys, but once I finished it, she thought it would be nice to surprise him with it for Christmas (he's now 30). This is the final quilt.
