Congratulations Braeden on starting your career with the Milbank Police Department!
On May 10, 2024, Lake Area Technical College in Watertown, SD conducted its 57th annual graduation ceremony. Eighteen Law Enforcement students received their degrees in Law Enforcement - Associates in Applied Science. Among them Braeden Johnson walked the stage and has been working for the Milbank Police Department during his last year in school. Braeden received a Labor Force Scholarship through the partnership of LATC and the City of Milbank that paid tuition for his last year at LATC.
Braeden reported for duty May 11, 2024, marking his transition from a part time uncertified officer to a full-time member of the Milbank Police Department as a South Dakota State Certified Police Officer. In South Dakota you can work up to 1 year as an uncertified officer. The candidate must be enrolled in the police academy in Pierre or earn their certification though a Law Enforcement program like the LATC offers before the year expires if currently working as a law enforcement officer.
We congratulate Braeden on his accomplishments and for his current service in the South Dakota National Guard. He is excited to continue to grow in this profession to serve our community and our country.
