Rotary Club of Waukegan
The Rotary Club of Waukegan was granted a club charter on October 20, 1914 From Rotary International.
Last evening we held our annual installation of new officers and directors. We were fortunate to have District Governor Thor Davidson join us at the pollinators garden. As new president, I want to thank all our directors and officers who will join me in guiding our club in fulfilling our current service projects and our future endeavors. A big thank you to past president Chip for offering to share my responsibilities and perform double duty as club secretary.
Our pollinators garden caretaker, Doug Stiles reports, "The garden looks great and there were six Monarch Butterfly Caterpillars on one of the milkweed plants."
Just happened to be in Northbrook today around noon in the Hilton and ran into a Rotary Club meeting!
Rotary International's new president, Stephanie Urchick from Pittsburgh, PA!
President Chip's last Board Meeting was yesterday since becoming our 2023-04 leader. Thanks for all you've done for the club and offering to help me out in my year beginning in July!
Had our weekly meeting at the pollinators garden and lo and behold there was a Monarch caterpillar chomping on some milkweed! Pretty cool. Thanks Doug for the pizza and it was sure great to see everyone in 3D!
Fifth Thursday of the month and the club is working hard at Keeping Families Covered bundling diapers. Thanks to all Rotarians and volunteers who gave two hours today to help out at an outstanding organization.
Don't forget, Rotarians! Next Thursday, June 30th from noon to 2pm we will be volunteering at the diaper warehouse of local nonprofit Keeping Families Covered. Join us!
Had an outstanding program today by Ms Heidi King of College Inside Track!
On Thursday, the club welcomed Lake County Treasurer Holly Kim who gave a wonderful program regarding what her office is responsible for and all the 21st century modifications she has overseen since taking the helm of the department. Check it out for yourself at www.lakecountyil.gov
Today was clean the bike path day and with the help of Illinois and Milwaukee based geocachers our task was completed in record time. Thanks to all who braved the unseasonal cold and wind to make the McClory bike path presentable.
This Saturday (4/20/24) is our twice annual clean the Robert McClory Bike Path. We meet near Booners Place on Washington Street and head to Grand Avenue. We've got vests, bags, and trash grabbers so join us at 10am and help us make a difference in our fair city.
It was great to have an in-person meeting tonight at the world famous Quonset Pizza in Waukegan! Nice to see our fellow Rotarians in 3D rather than the usual ZOOM 2D.
Zoom meeting yesterday ahead of the blizzard today. Shelby McDonald, Kari Robinson, and Julie Dumas brought the club up to speed on all the new developments at the Waukegan Park District. Great program ladies!
Saw this in the hall today of Washington Elementary School where I'm a reading tutor. Pretty close to our Rotary 4-way test:
Had our monthly board meeting yesterday with a fine turnout.
