The University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee at Waukesha Library is a two-year academic library
Friday Flashback: Photo of the restored UWM at Waukesha Field Station prairie taken 35 years ago by Marlin Johnson in the summer of 1989. The Field Station is in full bloom this week so come out while the weather is supposed to be perfect and check out all the native prairie plants.
Welcome to summer (and the Library). UWM at Waukesha
Enjoy word games? Like a good competition? Have some free time this summer? If you answered yes to any of these, we encourage you to check out the Library's new life-sized word board game. It's just waiting to have someone lay down the first word. Our sincere thanks to the UWM at Washington County Library (and Art Department) for entrusting this with us before their final day serving the public a few weeks ago. In the event you're not on the UWM at Waukesha campus, remote games are a possibility!
The Library was pleased to partner with the UWM at Waukesha Art Department to recognize Miriam Kitzrow and Ryane Overlein for their excellent work during the 2023-24 academic year. Each earned a $250 award for their work. Congratulations, Miriam and Ryane!
The Library is pleased to join the UWM at Waukesha campus in celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with two exhibits highlighting our API collections including this one in the Library and another outside the Student Union.
A nice aerial shot of campus in early spring looking south from Library Bridge towards the Fieldhouse in 1991 (before Westview and the Computer Center were built). It looks to have been a bit warmer that it is today. The Library has nearly a thousand historical photos of the campus like this one that can be found on our website and at https://search.library.wisc.edu/search/digital?filter%5Bfacets%5D%5Btopics_facet~University+of+Wisconsin%E2%80%94Waukesha%5D=yes
History, politics, music, literature, and culture are some of the many areas highlighted in the Library's exhibit this month. We invite you to check it out and check them out! UWM at Waukesha.
Campus favorite Dixie (along with her handler Cathy) will be in the Library tomorrow to share her canine love with UWM at Waukesha students, faculty, and staff.
There's still time to sign up for this helpful event being held in the Library on Monday, March 4th. Learn a new and highly effective study method. Applicable to virtually all classes on campus. UWM at Waukesha

According to the Waukesha Freeman, the team's record was 16-7 that year. UWM at Waukesha
Some thoughtful responses from UWM at Waukesha students to our questions of the week last week. Really good to have our nurses-in-training knowing how to set an IV. This week's question is "What would you do if you were Dean for a Day?" Tell Campus Administrators what changes you'd like to see!
The Library is pleased to partner with our colleagues at UWM at Waukesha to raise awareness about the Holocaust. All are welcome to check out our exhibit that highlights some of the important items in our collections on this salient area of inquiry.
Starting on Study Day (December 15th), the Library is pleased to offer DIY shiatsu foot and back massagers to students taking (and faculty/staff giving) final exams. Come for a snack and get in a little relaxation. We will also have a running loop of different nature-based relaxation videos in our computer classroom (cum relaxation space) for those looking for a visual break. UWM at Waukesha
The Library is mourning the recent passing of beloved political science professor, Dr. Margaret Hankenson. Margaret contributed to the UWM at Waukesha campus in countless ways during her 25 years here including, notably, developing one of our highest-impact programs - the UW Waukesha Faculty Student Research Symposium (FACStRS) - in 2002 with her social science colleagues Professors Bob Bermant and Salah Bassoouni (see attached program cover). Her passing is a tremendous loss for our campus. Our heartfelt condolences to her husband, Mike, her family, and friends.
The Library was pleased to help welcome Washington Post legendary journalist, and current Associate Editor, Bob Woodward to the UWM at Waukesha campus yesterday. Many thanks to the Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership for their support of his amazing talk.
Loving the early morning sunlight in the Library's South Study Lounge. If only we could store days like these when the dark and cloudy days of December and January kick in. UWM at Waukesha
The Library is very excited to be hosting exhibit "Shadows of Industrialization" in the Library now through November 17th. Barbara will be speaking about her project on Saturday, Nov. 4th in the Library from 12:15-1:15 as part of the SE Wisconsin Festival of Books. All are welcome to attend. Our Campus Writing Specialist, Sara Pagliaroni, will join the Waukesha Librarians to help students with any paper, speech, or project you're working on (or should be). Stop by anytime between 8:30 and 4 pm. Oh, and Happy Halloween! 🍩🎃
Another one bites the dust. Our group of students have some mad puzzling skills so we enjoy sharing their impressive work. UWM at Waukesha
Looking to broaden your perspective? Interested in walking in someone else's shoes? We invite you to check out our collection of morally bankrupt and corrupting books during . If you're not careful, you might learn something. UWM at Waukesha
Great to have Dixie back on campus today sharing the love and her velvet-soft ears. The last group of students pictured (in the Library) got a special sendoff before their 1 pm anatomy and physiology exam. UWM at Waukesha
Can't wait to see Dixie in the Library this week! She's an awesome therapy dog who will be at UWM at Waukesha to bring love and goodness to anyone wanting some doggie healing.
Celebrating more than 50 years of Cougar Athletics at UWM at Waukesha. Below are a few of the many successful teams, student athletes, and coaches who have called the Waukesha campus home.

The Library study rooms are about to celebrate their 2nd birthday and, thus far, they have been a great success. We've been working with students who use those spaces to improve our booking software and, more recently, to refine our policies. This fall we are testing out a new (trial) policy - students are now able to book the same study room twice per day without any waiting period in-between (for up to a maximum of four hours). We will be evaluating this policy change during September to make sure there are still rooms available when people need them most. UWM at Waukesha
Flashback Friday: We are very excited to welcome back students to campus next Tuesday! A few images of Welcome Week from years past. No, you won't see students wearing INFO sandwich boards or perusing piles of textbooks in the bookstore these days, but we'll have the red carpet rolled out for you all on September 5th! UWM at Waukesha
As the campus prepares to welcome it's 57th class, a peek at how college registration at UWM at Waukesha used to be. What took the better part of a day now takes a few minutes. Gone are the long lines, reams of paperwork, hot sweaty rooms, and frustration over classes that closed before you were allowed to register. We can't wait to see you on September 5th!
Wow - there are some cringe-worthy elements to this 1974 noise policy. We have come a long way since then.
The Library's pollinator garden is in full bloom! A monarch butterfly flew past as this picture was taken so it's already serving nature. Many thanks to our friends in the UWM at Waukesha Maintenance Dept. for installing a timed sprinkler to help everything grow. Hope something's still around to welcome students back in September.
Happy to have both our front gates back in operation. A big thanks to our colleagues in the UWM at Waukesha Maintenance Department for their work on this project.
On this Independence Day Eve, we encourage all our followers to revisit the document that made our democracy possible 247 years ago tomorrow. The National Archives and Records Administration has a great site highlighting the document's long and fascinating history - https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/constitution.
While you're at it, you might want to check out Richard Haas's new book, 'The Bill of Obligations: Ten Habits of Good Citizens'. In it Haas adroitly states “We get the government and the country we deserve. Getting the one we need, however, is up to us.”
Have a great 4th!
