🦒 Intern Spotlight: Say hello to Kellyn Halliday '26, an Animal Behavior major. This summer she is interning at Safari Lake Geneva!
"It's been such a great opportunity to have hands-on experience with one of the species I want to work with which are giraffes! I am super blessed to get to wake up every day this summer and work with exotic animals such as capybaras, squirrel monkeys, water buffalo and so much more, which are only an hour from Carroll! It’s definitely a physically demanding internship but I’m doing what I love so it’s worth the early mornings and late nights. Carroll has set me up for success and being able to do this internship!"

🚧 Intern Spotlight: Say hello to Ella Rageth '25, a Business Administration major with minors in photography and business analytics. This summer she is a Social Media Marketing Intern at Komatsu North America!
"For my internship, I am working on creating content, pulling data from posts and analyzing it, as well as just helping out as much as I can within the MarCom department. I get the opportunity to help out with mainly the Komatsu North America/Construction (KNA) but also help out with the Komatsu Mining (KMT) socials. I really enjoy seeing how my classroom knowledge applies to this internship and I can finally see all of my education so far be put to use!"
Happy first day of summer, Pios! We hope you are enjoying summer break and we cannot wait to CU in the fall.

Today, we observe , a significant day in our nation’s history. Known as Emancipation Day, Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached Galveston, Texas.
Southeastern slave owners had moved to Texas after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. Civil War fighting and Union troops were scarce in Texas, allowing slavery to continue there for two more years.
After the war, General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston and liberated 250,000 enslaved individuals on June 19. In December 1865, the United States ratified the 13th Amendment to officially abolish slavery.
As we honor Juneteenth and reflect on its historical significance, we recognize the ongoing need to create a more equitable society. Carroll University is steadfast in cultivating an inclusive campus by celebrating diverse cultures, perspectives and experiences.

In collaboration with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Leonard Steinert '21 and Emmie Elliott Leservoisier '27 are helping support the repopulation efforts for state-endangered rainbow mussels!
Last week, they located several female mussels that have produced larvae in the Mississippi River. Once enough mussels were collected, the DNR took them to the Genoa National Fish Hatchery. The hatchery will raise the larval mussels in a safe environment until they can be released into the wild population.
Thank you to our Environmental Science team at Carroll University for your hard work improving our ecosystem!
