💪 Try keeping up with this hard working dude..I definitely can’t, but I can bring him snacks! After his “real” day job, he works on the farm to raise our cattle and because of that, we will be restocked with our 100% grassfed total grind ground beef.

👏 Tomorrow morning, I am picking up our order at the butcher and will open the farm store as soon as the freezer is full, guessing I’ll be ready to open at 10:00am!

🔟 little pigs came home with me today! Along the way, we discovered a cute “Market Bin” farm stand and so many farmers baling hay!!! The pigs are settled in, my vehicle is airing out and Matt’s still baling hay!

🍓 We love supporting farmers…and tis’ the season for berries! We finally made it strawberry picking at the lovely Backwoods Berry Farm! And, we tried a new recipe for strawberry pie. Delicious!

The recipe called for vanilla, so we used….Posphyhalla Farms Vanilla (which we carry in the Farm Store)! 👏 Right down the highway, in Edgar, Katie makes the vanilla extract in small batches with 100% organic Madagascar vanilla beans and infuses it for a minimum of 6 months for best flavor! Come check it out at the farm store - we love supporting local farmers & makers!

Last year this time, we had 1st crop hay all done. This year, well…….

This afternoon, Matt tried cutting the outside rounds, it didn’t go so good, well it didn’t go at all. The rain is coming at midnight on Monday. Matt is going to attempt cutting tomorrow again. Let’s do this - bringin’ out the WW Wrestler Mental Toughness!😳😩

We love what’s happening at Ranch and Root Sauk! It is an adorable Farm Co-op and their story is just beginning! We delivered some of our dog treats today to be added to their shelves! 🐾 If you are in the beautiful Sauk area, stop in to support farmers, ranchers and artisans!

Bonus, we squeezed in a few stops along the way, including lunch with Aunt Di and exploring New Life Lavender & Cherry Farm.

I learned this tip from one of the amazing educators I was lucky to work & I always use it: ”I have good news and bad news, which one do you want to hear first?” Most of my students, my kids & Matt (yes I use it with Matt too 😉) choose “bad news” first.

👎So here is the bad news first…beacuse of all your support, we are currently out of our total grind grassfed ground beef & we don’t know when we will be restocked.

👍Good news…we still have quality ground beef from AV Farms, ground beefalo from Gold Medal Cattle, and our pork!!! Our Farm Store will continue to be open on Saturdays!

We will update you when we get a butcher date for more grassfed total grind ground beef. As always, we are beyond grateful for your support of our small family farm! ❤️

⚒️ Matt has to repair the baler knife holding shaft bar because it is worn out. Little farmer dude got the part today from Swiderski Equipment Inc. - thankful they carry parts for our equipment! And, all I can say is good thing Matt figures out how to fix our equipment for free! Thanks Mr. Farmer Repair Man! 👏😉😂

Sarah, the Farm Uber Driver, rocked it today! Since I can’t drive a trailer, she drove me, the truck & cattle trailer to the east side of WI to pick up our silage wrap and hay netting!

And in true adventure form, we made some pitstops along the way. Two Rivers was our destination…cute town on Lake Michigan! Found Scream 'N Conuts for lunch … ice cream cone + donut = yumminess!

Our fav stop was Barnwood Coffee Company. We met Amy, a kind & fun human! She has created a beautiful space to sell her roasted coffee! Thanks for sharing your stories, patriotism & coffee with us! 👏👏👏

The equipment is all serviced and ready to make some hay!!! Last year we battled dry conditions, this year, we are anxiously waiting for the rain to pause, so we can get 3-4 straight days of sun & no rain to make hay!!!

It was good to be back in Iowa visiting Lenth Herefords and picking up our new bull for the ladies on the farm. Welcome Benny (his daddy is LCX Perfecto 11B)!!! We always enjoy chatting and learning from Marilynn, she is a Hereford guru and has so much wisdom! The Lenths raise beautiful animals, have excellent genetics and take such good care of them!

Bonus, the drive is beautiful thru the countryside, and we love visiting small towns. We explored Decorah - amazing what you can fit in a 24 hour road trip - Toppling Goliath Brewing Co., Dunning Springs, Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum & Impact Coffee!

Oh planting season! 💸Matt is a very diligent farmer, especially when it comes to growing hay. Since our cattle are 100% grassfed, he makes sure he is growing nutritious and quality hay. We need to replant our hay fields, which is no small endeavor. To give you a small glimpse at planting costs…Matt found the right seed, a combination of alfalfa and different grasses. For a 22 acre field, we spent $3800 on just seed…that small pallet that is shorter than the kids (Alfalfa $295/bag and Grasses $215/bag). Add on cost of lime/fertilizers, fuel, land rent, equipment and repairs…makes a person go 🤪😳🫣💸💸!!!

After the money is spent and the work is done, we just wait to see what Mother Nature will do on the daily. Takin’ a gamble and really hope the crop comes up and grows all season.

We love adventure & supporting farmers! While in Eau Claire for Brock’s soccer tournament, we took time to visit Together Farms! The drive thru the rolling hills provided simple beauty, peace and a slower pace of life. We enjoyed the tranquillity of their quaint farm, they were so welcoming, the burgers were delicious, the drinks hit the spot, the music was delightful and we adored watching the animals. Thank you Together Farms for opening up your home and all your hard work for burger nights, we were happy to be there!

Aunt Ruby brought a guest to the Farm Store, all the way from Texas! ✈️ Miss Texas 2023 Ellie Breaux visited and got a tour of the farm from Marletta. 😊

We said good-bye to our three bottle-fed calves 😢 and hello to two new little goats 😊!

One goat has caused some mischief already…hoping the fence and hanging out on the pigs, literally “on” the pigs. It’s like he is king of the world, or just trying to stay out of the mud. 🤣

We “herd” May is National BEEF Month! I’m late to the party, as usual (Matt would have been on time, if not early). 🤣👏🎉🥳

We are proud to own a small family farm that raises quality beef for our community! Crazy to think we started the farm store 4 years ago! Shout out to all the amazing farmers and ranchers who work hard every day to raise & care for cattle!
