If you want to fix any imperfections in your smile, such as stains, chips, and gaps, veneers are the cosmetic solution you’re looking for. The Dentists on Bluemound uses custom-designed veneers to blend in with your other teeth with natural-looking results. These thin shells can transform your teeth and give you a more uniform smile. Is iced coffee bad for your teeth? Whether you like yours hot or iced, all coffee is acidic and can lead to tooth sensitivity and increase the risk of cavities if consumed in excess. It can also stain your teeth over time. Many commercially available iced coffees contain added sugars or sweetened syrups, which can promote tooth decay and gum disease if consumed frequently. But don’t worry - we won’t ask you to take away your iced coffee for good!

To minimize potential negative effects on your teeth while enjoying iced coffee:
- Limit consumption of sugary or sweetened varieties.
- Drink through a straw positioned toward the back of your mouth to reduce contact with teeth.
- Rinse your mouth with water after drinking coffee to help neutralize acidity and reduce staining.
- Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing daily.
- Visit your dentist regularly for check-ups and professional cleanings.

Just a friendly reminder to stop and take a deep breath. 💙 Stress not only takes a toll on your mental health, but it can also affect your smile! Clenching or grinding teeth, known as bruxism, can lead to tooth wear, jaw pain, and even fractures. Take time to relax and protect your oral health.

Peggy was dissatisfied with her severely crowded teeth, not just for aesthetic reasons and poor function, but also due to the heavy plaque buildup around the crowded teeth even after brushing. 🪥 We recommended Invisalign! This treatment allowed us to correct her crowding and widen her narrow arches, enhancing her bite and function. Peggy is now delighted with how much easier it is to keep her teeth clean, leading to healthier gums and overall dental health. 😁

It’s electric! ⚡ Using an electric toothbrush can take your oral hygiene to the next level. Here are some benefits of brushing with an electric toothbrush:

🦷 Electric toothbrushes are more effective at removing plaque compared to manual brushing, helping to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
🦷 Many electric toothbrushes come with built-in timers to ensure you brush for the recommended two minutes.
🦷 The oscillating or rotating movements of electric toothbrush bristles are gentle on gums, reducing the risk of gum recession and sensitivity.
🦷 Electric toothbrushes often feature pressure sensors and different brushing modes to help you find your preferred brushing technique.
🦷 Electric toothbrushes can make brushing fun for kids with colorful designs and music timers, encouraging them to develop good oral care habits from a young age.

Let us know your favorite electric toothbrush in the comments! ⬇

Implant Supported Crown & Bridge

Daryl is one of our long-time, witty and fun patients. He is an extreme bruxer, “grinder”, and had worn his front teeth down to less than one half of their original size. He also had several multi-tooth posterior bridges that were beginning to fail. Our goal was to lengthen his worn teeth and replace the failing bridges with implant supported crowns and bridges to bring his bite back to ideal and prevent further wear. Daryl is thrilled with the results and loves to flash his Hollywood smile!😁

Molly is an outstanding patient with impeccably healthy teeth and gums, but really wanted to know if Invisalign could improve her smile. She had extremely crowded upper and lower teeth. We were able to transform her smile within one year of Inivsalign treatment!

Fun fact about your dental health: over a lifetime, the average person spends about 38.5 days brushing their teeth. The time spent may seem small on a daily basis, but the actions you take now can add up to a lifetime of healthy smiles. Remember to brush twice a day for two minutes a session to help prevent dental issues and promote overall well-being. 😀

Do you want to learn more about the tools your dentist uses to keep your smile in tip-top shape? Here are some of the tools we use at The Dentists on Bluemound that are instrumental in keeping your teeth healthy:

- Dental Mirror: A small, handheld mirror with an angled handle used to view and access areas of the mouth that are difficult to see, such as the back of the teeth or behind molars.
- Scaler: Dental scalers are instruments with a hook-like end designed to remove plaque and tartar from the surface of the teeth. They come in various shapes and sizes to accommodate different areas of the mouth.
- Dental Drill: A high-speed dental drill, or handpiece, is a rotary tool used for various dental procedures, including cavity preparation and tooth reshaping. It may have different attachments for specific tasks.
- Suction Device: Suction devices are used to remove saliva, water, and debris from the patient's mouth during dental procedures. This helps maintain a dry working environment and enhances our visibility.

If you ever have any questions or concerns about which tools your dentist uses, don’t hesitate to ask during your dental exam!

Even if you brush and floss daily, regular dental cleanings are still essential for maintaining optimal oral health. Regular dental cleanings can prevent tartar buildup, reducing the risk of cavities and gum disease. These check-ups also allow us to detect issues early, including cavities, oral cancer, and any other dental concerns you may have. What are you waiting for? Schedule your appointment today:

Ever wonder why we take X-rays of your teeth at your dental appointment? Dental X-rays allow us to see between and inside your teeth. They not only help us see the condition of your teeth, but also the roots, jaw placement, and facial bone composition. X-rays can detect issues such as small areas of decay between your teeth, decay beneath fillings, cysts and other types of tumors, bone loss in the jaw from periodontal disease, abscesses, and more! The next time we ask you for dental X-rays, know that we are taking "X-tra" precautions to rule out dental problems before they become too serious or advanced.
