Yesterday, SWOSU President Dr. Diana Lovell and Comanche County Memorial Hospital Chief Nursing Officer Melissa Alvillar signed a partnership agreement to support healthcare education and address staffing needs. This collaboration provides SWOSU students with tuition support and hands-on experience at CCMH in fields like nursing, radiologic technology, and health information management.

This partnership is a win-win, providing financial support for our students and ensuring CCMH benefits from a steady supply of qualified professionals.

We are saddened by the passing of Jerry Hodge, a valued member of our community and a respected leader in pharmacy. His contributions have made a significant impact on both the university and the field of pharmacy. Our thoughts are with Margaret and the entire Hodge family during this time.

Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) students, faculty, staff, alumni, emeriti, and friends mourn today the passing of Mr. Jerry Hodge.

Hodge, former chairman and chief executive officer of Maxor National Pharmacy Services Corporation, was a 1965 graduate of the SWOSU College of Pharmacy and a long-time SWOSU benefactor. He was inducted into the SWOSU Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame in 1979 and was honored by the Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy as Outstanding Alumnus in 2008.

In 2021, Hodge and his wife, Margaret, made history with their record-setting $5 million philanthropic investment in SWOSU’s College of Pharmacy and Center for Rural Health. The Hodges joined the SWOSU community and an array of state leaders in Weatherford in 2022 to break ground on the Jerry & Margaret Hodge Center for Pharmacy & Rural Health which is currently under construction.

Jerry Hodge’s legacy will continue to live at SWOSU in the healthcare education and community service programs that his generosity made possible. The thoughts and prayers of the Bulldog community are with Margaret and the entire Hodge Family at this time.

Today is the anniversary of the fire that destroyed the original Administration Building, SWOSU's first building, on July 27, 1939. 🕰️

On that evening, after commencement exercises, the fire alarm sounded in Weatherford. The historic building was engulfed in flames as a large crowd gathered. When the bell tower fell, the crowd sang the “Alma Mater.”
⠀⠀
While most important school records were protected by a fireproof vault, some information about SWOSU's early years was lost. The new Administration Building, completed in 1942, replaced the original structure.

Today, we remember this significant event in SWOSU's history.
