Welcome August! Although this is often Houston's hottest month it is also a month of transition. It's the last month of 'meteorological' summer, with September the start of 'meteorological' fall. Most noticeably however, is the loss of daylight hours. From August 1st to the 31st, we lose a whopping 47 minutes of daylight and by the end of the month, the sun is setting before 8 pm.
