And what a bash it was! WestSide High School knows how to start a new school year right. Thanks to the continued generosity of Sage Hills Church and their members WestSide students and staff enjoyed a fun filled afternoon.

Sunnyslope Elementary School and all of our elementary schools will welcome kinders to classrooms for full days of learning this week. WSD does a rolling start to help parents and kindergartners have a successful transition to school.

FFA teaches students a variety of valuable life and leadership skills. Get out to the Chelan County Fair and see them and their animals this week.

🐾🍁 WHS FALL SPORTS KICKOFF // Last night, the Wenatchee Panther Booster Club's Fall Sports Kickoff was a huge hit! Panther fans, coaches, and athletes gathered at the Apple Bowl to get pumped up for the season. Come out and support these incredible student-athletes this season in the stands, or become a booster. FIRST DAY FEELS // It was a big day at Wenatchee High School for the incoming freshmen. Can you feel the Panther pride? Sophomore, Juniors and Seniors go back tomorrow.

Did you spot some of our district leaders in school zones today? They’ll be out with law enforcement the rest of this week reminding drivers to slow down and watch for kids at crosswalks.

🥎🌱 SO FRESH AND SO GREEN // The synthetic turf has arrived at the new girls’ softball field and crews are busy getting it installed. Things are starting to come together and soon the softball/slow pitch teams will be able to move into their new home. 🐾💜

BACK TO SCHOOL // It's the first day of school in the WSD, and we love seeing all the smiles and excitement our students bring. The halls are again filled with energy and enthusiasm for a new year. We dropped in on Pioneer Middle School this morning to capture the Bears getting a warm welcome from staff and leadership students.

Welcome back students! Don’t forget to slow down in school zones. Our staff including Superintendent Kalahar are at crosswalks before and after school this week helping to remind drivers to slow down and allow students to safely cross.

SPECIAL ED PARA JOB FAIR // We have immediate openings for Special Education paraprofessionals in preschool through high school. Come to our job fair on September 3 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the district office (235 Sunset Ave.), apply in person, and meet with hiring managers. RESTROOM HEALTH & SAFETY SENSORS // The district has installed new health and safety sensors in middle and high school restrooms. These sensors will go beyond simply monitoring occupancy and actively detect smoke, va**ng, and signs of physical altercations. By helping to prevent negative behaviors and ensuring timely intervention when needed, this proactive approach will promote a safer, healthier learning environment for all students. The sensors were purchased using funds awarded to the district from a Juul class action lawsuit.

🐺 Walt the Wolf joined us again this year for our kickoff day! We're proud to partner with Walt and the Wenatchee Wild Hockey on their Wild About Learning program. We have a shared "goal" 🥅 of ensuring students build strong literacy skills.

Mission View Elementary School gets style points for its new playground improvements. We can't wait to see it full of students next week enjoying the staff's hard work to create a beautiful and thriving playground environment.

BUSY BEES // Buzzby and the WSD transportation team are busy as bees at that Lincoln Elementary Back to School Night sharing information on riding the bus with students who are new to ridding the bus 🚌.

OPENING DAY 2024 // WSD officially kicked off our Staff Opening Day Celebration today with a theme of Growth and New Beginnings. Thank you to Sage Hills Church for generously sponsoring the breakfast and food trucks and the dozens of organizations and vendors who came out for the community fair. Also, a huge shout out to our school board members in attendance and the talented student performers from the GA Band Drumline, WHS Mariachi, soloist for the National Anthem, Celia Kiesz, and the JAFROTC, who presented the colors.
