Love is in the legal air as we celebrate the 22nd anniversary of the heartwarming partnership between Chelan Douglas County Volunteer Attorney Services (CDCVAS) and the Chelan Douglas Bar Association (CDBA). Back in 2002, attorney Russ Speidel, along with other legal luminaries, laid the foundation for CDCVAS to provide essential legal aid services to the community. The CDBA, a beacon of generosity and support, has been a cornerstone in this journey, generously donating to events like the 2024 Justice Gala and shining brightly as a Gold sponsor again this year. Their unwavering support ensures that funds raised during the gala will continue to provide crucial legal assistance through CDCVAS. With most attorneys volunteering their time or providing their financial support, it's clear that love and dedication are at the heart of this partnership. Here's to 22 years of making a difference, one legal case at a time! 🦅💼

Our Story
Chelan and Douglas counties have some of the highest poverty levels in Washington. CDCVAS achieves justice in this community by helping low-income people with civil legal problems through high quality, pro bono legal services. We accomplish this mission by enlisting the help of volunteer attorneys from our local Chelan-Douglas Bar. Volunteer attorneys assist clients from Chelan and Douglas counties who meet financial eligibility standards and who have been screened and interviewed on discreet civil legal issues. A client’s household income and resources must be at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level to be eligible for VAS services.
CDCVAS is successful in providing access to justice for people in need in our local community because of your support. Each year, CDCVAS helps over 400 families and individuals get civil legal assistance when they need it most.
