Emily is our May Team Member of the Month!

As a medical surgical telemetry nurse she monitors and cares for patients with a range of cardiac conditions. Her colleagues describe her as someone who "cares for her patients with all that she has and makes sure they smile during hard times."

It's not just how she cares for her patients which earned her this honor but also how she cares for and supports her fellow team members. "She is always available to help anyone and everyone on any given day. She is genuine and cares whole-heartedly for her patients and team."

This year's theme is Growing Together, Rooted in Our Community, to emphasize the connections that foster growth and plants seeds of positivity and wellness within ourselves and the lives of those around us. Every day this week BHWC has celebrated with online activities and virtual offerings as well special treats, luncheons and activities for our incredible team members. Happy BayCare Week!

BHWC President Becky Schulkowski was recently invited to serve as a panelist during the second annual Women Uplifting Women luncheon at Pasco Hernando State College - Porter Campus. Hosted by the Commission on the Status of Women, the event featured Pasco County leaders who told inspiring stories of their paths to success and fielded questions from the packed audience. Kevin Seeras, DO, has joined BayCare Medical Group’s general surgery office at 4501 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., Suite 302 in Wesley Chapel. He is board certified in general surgery and treats patients 18 and older. Dr. Seeras is affiliated with BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel and St. Joseph’s Hospital. It's Medical Laboratory Professionals Week! BHWC is proud to recognize our behind-the-scenes lab services team for the vital role they play in patient care.

It is estimated 60 to 70 percent of all decisions regarding a patient's diagnosis, treatment, hospital admission, and discharge are based on the results of the tests medical laboratory scientists perform.

BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel recently held service awards to honor team members who have reached milestone work anniversaries this past year. Although BHWC has only been open a little more than a year, many of our team members have worked for BayCare much longer.

As part of BayCare's vast supply chain structure, BPP collectively negotiates agreements for products, equipment and services on behalf of BayCare's 16 member hospitals. This cost effective approach, streamlines the supply chain and allows for efficient delivery of materials needed to support each hospital. Her desire to always create a positive work culture is evident by her caring manner with her patients and fellow team members alike.

As a surgical procedural supply analyst at BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel, she ensures our surgical services team has all the supplies, equipment and instrumentation needed to do their jobs properly. Her colleagues say she is an integral part of the supply chain and inventory controls who keeps the department running.

It's our one-year anniversary! March 7 marked one year since BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel opened its doors to the public. Team members celebrated with an anniversary party complete with music, treats, a 360 video booth and lots of fun.

The DAISY Foundation is an organization dedicated to recognizing excellence in nursing care. DAISY Award winners are nominated by patients and their families as a way to say thank you to those who've provided more than just clinical care during a patient's hospital stay. They go above and beyond to provide compassionate care and support in a patient's time of need.

BHWC congratulates Clinical Nurse Matt of our medical surgery team for being the first nurse from BHWC to win this honor. Matt was nominated by a patient who described him as "the Michael Jordan of nursing, a person with extraordinary skills who elevated the level of care to amazing heights."

Happy Value-Tines Day! The "Busy Bees" activity committee at BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel made the rounds handing out Value-tines to team members.

“The Value-tine gives us an opportunity to stop and reflect on those we work with day in and day out and tell someone why you value them. It's more than a thank you. It's putting into words the qualities or actions a person does that you truly appreciate," said BHWC Quality Manager Heidi, the brainchild of the Value-tine.

In all, more than 100 Value-tine treats and notes of appreciation were given to deserving team members.

Food and Nutrition Services team member, Ed, is our most recent Team Member of the Month! He is a talented cook who puts his heart into everything he does. He is personable with superb customer service skills and always has a smile on his face. He truly enjoys his job and helping others. He takes the time to get to know his customers and makes an effort to provide personalized service to each one, especially those who become his regulars.
