IMPACT Chief Operating Officer, Amy Christiansen Rowell, and Grant & Database Specialist, Madi Ashman, are in Madison today for Fundraising Day Wisconsin, a collaboration between the Wisconsin Chapters of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. The event, themed “The Courage to Reimagine... The Future of Inclusion and Nonprofits” explores the future of philanthropy, examines power imbalances, and empowers attendees to be bold in their fundraising efforts. Today’s keynote speaker was Birgit Smith Burton, Chief Executive Officer of AADO, the African American Development Officers Network, which she founded at Georgia Tech in 1999 to provide professional development, education, employment support, mentorship, and networking opportunities for fundraisers of color. She is a well-regarded speaker on the topics of fundraising and diversity and has authored articles on diversity in the fundraising profession.

Amy Christiansen Rowell, Chief Operating Officer, and Madi Ashman, Grant & Database Specialist, are at Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) ICON in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. An annual, global conference, ICON brings together fundraisers and leaders in philanthropy from across the globe. In addition to their roles at IMPACT, Amy and Madi are members of Association of Fundraising Professionals of Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter where Amy serves as board president and Madi is a member of the IDEA committee. Madi is also attending the conference as a Chamberlain Scholar. Amy was a Chamberlain Scholar in 2019 when the conference was held in San Antonio, Texas.
