What made you start at THE GYM WB? I wanted something to help me build strength and get in better condition for skating.
What’s your favorite part? The variety in the workouts and the ability to modify if I need to. And making new friends!
Biggest achievement: I have two: Getting back to THE GYM four months after hip surgery and doing a pistol squat on the bosu
Current goals: Overhead press the 28kg bell
Favorite exercise: Presses!
Least favorite exercise: Tie between burpees and bear crawl
Favorite workout song: A good 90’s mix
Favorite food: Steak or crab legs
Favorite beverage: I love a good non-alcoholic paloma
Three things that make you happy: Skating, baseball and camels
What has kettlebell training taught you? Focus. Focus on my form, focus on my breathing and focus on my goals.
Spirit animal: A camel, of course!
Interesting fact about you: I’ve been in 4 earthquakes. The first one was while I was rock climbing and was hanging on the side of a rock.
Why your classmates nominated you: “Melissa is super dedicated to her training, both at the gym and on the ice. She’s always working hard to achieve her goals.”
Why your trainers selected you: Melissa sets such a great example of dedication and consistency. She’s been working extra hard at making committed club and working in a balance of time on the ice. And it’s showing! Her jumps are getting stronger and her strength at the gym continues to grow.

I love heavy deadlifts and I love this girl! Steph Lauters started training for the TSC 8 weeks ago. At that time, her max deadlift was 255 and her Flexed arm hang time was about 11 seconds. Yesterday, she deadlifted 295 POUNDS!! A 40lb increase in 8 weeks!!! And equally amazing, she took her FAH time to 50 SECONDS!!! And she completed 160 sn**ches with the 12kg in 5 minutes. I think these numbers will land her in first place, but we have to watch the results come in this week. She’s number one in books. Amazing work Steph! Congratulations on a monster deadlift. And I can’t wait to see you pull 300+ in Fall.

What made you start at THE GYM WB? I knew I wanted to join a gym that had scheduled classes and was close to work. I tried a class (which was a birthday workout, iykyk) and I was hooked!
What’s your favorite part? Learning how FUN kettlebells are! I had never trained with kettlebells before and they’re so versatile and fun.
Biggest achievement: Double kettlebell Bottoms Up Turkish Get Up
Current goals: Being consistent, not perfect.
Favorite exercise: I love a good flow! My fav is swing > sn**ch > press > down sn**ch > gunslinger
Least favorite exercise: Solid tie between thrusters and ab wheels
Favorite workout song: Any Big Bo**ie Mix
Favorite food: Pizza
Favorite beverage: Lemonade or Strawberry Margarita
Three things that make you happy: Swimming, my pets, quality time with my husband
What has kettlebell training taught you? You can get strong and get cardio all in one workout
Spirit animal: A dolphin for sure! Or mermaids if you believe in those like I do
Interesting fact about you: I played collegiate basketball for one year and soccer for the remaining three years
Why your classmates nominated you: “Alexis is ALWAYS cheering everyone on and giving laughs and high fives. This month she killed it with consistency!”
Why your trainers selected you: We all LOVE having Alexis in class - she brings such an uplifting, positive, fun attitude. This month she found consistency, even through some “pit” falls…. Love you girl!
Alexis adds "THE GYM WB is the most welcoming and accepting gym I've been to in a long time. I never show up scared to mess up, I can be my authentic self, and it is such a judge-free environment. Fitness can be fore any and all, especially here!"

I know a few people going through some really challenging things right now.

You’re not running away from your problems, but taking time to clear your mind, boost your endorphins and come back feeling more confident, more clear and ready to face hard things.

The mental benefits of exercise cannot be matched by anything else!!! Sometimes it feels like the last thing that you want to add to your chaotic life, but somehow it’s the thing the makes everything else more manageable.

I stumbled upon this quote about change. “People change when the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of changing.” At first I thought, what a great quote… that IS when change occurs, once you are sick of staying the same. But I disagree with this idea that the change needs to be painful. Change is GOOD! Change is growth. Change is acceleration toward something better. It does not have to be painful or scary. It can be exciting and invigorating. Don’t be afraid of change, instead go forth with passion and bravery.

Common question! Does everyone do the same workout? Yes and no! While we are all doing the same workout, we can tailor exercises to compliment your individual needs. Everyone in class can workout together, even at different ability levels and catering to different goals or working around injuries! Its not a cookie cutter workout slapped on the board - you do you and we are here to help you ❤️

What made you start at THE GYM WB? My friend Tracy! She saw a “Back to School” promo for THE GYM and wanted to try it… Here we are, 18 months later. And she is kicking my butt!!!
What’s your favorite part? I have always been a runner. Being able to do my own thing, when and where I need it, with just a pair of running shoes was my happy place. Classes never seemed to work for me… they are either too structured or too dancy or too cheesy. But something about THE GYM just clicks. It is structured but still gives you the freedom to push in your own way. The workouts are great, the trainers are great, and the people are great!
Biggest achievement: Oh boy, everything?!? I look back to where I was when we started and can't believe how far I’ve come.
Current goals: 5 pull-ups!! (Amanda said 3 pullups and then came into the gym the next day and hit 3 pullups - she's that awesome!)
Favorite exercise: Hmmm, Burpees? Swings? I know I do love a good finisher :)
Least favorite exercise: Ugh, the OH press. Or any double KB exercise.
Favorite workout song: Thunderstruck (burpees!!) for the win!
Favorite food: A really good street taco with guacamole… and probably brownies.
Favorite beverage: Bourbon or tequila… or black coffee if it’s before noon ;)
Three things that make you happy: My friends, my family and my dog
What has kettlebell training taught you? Humility
Spirit animal: The bear
Interesting fact about you: I love to solo travel!
Why your classmates nominated you: “Amanda is a beast in a tiny package! She is always working hard and encouraging her classmates.’
Why your trainers selected you: Amanda has been a staple at the 5am class , a natural with the kettlebell, stupid strong, and fights through a nagging injury, always giving 110%!

Some workouts we only use one kettlebell. And some workouts we use ALL THE BELLS!
Overhead carries, farmer carries, racked carries, even some uneven carries! Grip strength and core connection being challenged.

Yesterday was beautiful ☀️ 330pm class all agreed to carry our bells to the park and complete Mnt Inferno in the sun. It felt great to ground and get some fresh air - thanks for being spontaneous!

Congratulations to our 60 FIRM WINNERS! Tracy Bertrand Mueller and Angie Betz. They are both going home with $85 in their pockets and new, healthy habits!! Congratulations!
Wondering what this challenge was all about? Creating small, attainable changes that add up over time. Members set their own diet goals, specific to their goals and lifestyles. They also set an extra habit of choice to work on daily. Points were awarded for completing these 6 habits, and extra points were awarded for streaks.
1. 30 minutes of exercise
2. 100oz of water
3. 15 minutes of nonfiction reading or listening
4. Healthy diet of choice
5. No booze
6. Healthy habit of choice

How to win the week:

✔️ Plan your workouts for the week. Schedule them like an appointment. Don’t just leave it up to how you feel at that moment cuz you will most likely choose to skip (especially that 4:30am alarm!)
✔️ Plan your meals. Look ahead at your activities for the week and preplan your meals. Not just dinner, but breakfast, lunch and snacks. Planning ahead helps us not grab those quick, unhealthy foods.
✔️ Manage your sleep and bedtime routines. It’s important to get at least 7 hours. 8 is even better!
✔️ Schedule some time for self care. Make sure you are taking care of yourself! Maybe this is your workout, some time with friends, a date with your partner, a massage, a hot bath. You can’t give to others if your cup is empty.

Why your trainers selected you: Rachel has committed herself to this new habit and never misses a 5am. She is open to trying new things and is extremely coachable. After class, Rachel always takes the time to stretch - she just wants to be the best version of herself and it’s so admirable.
