residents and associates at eight of our communities in Michigan and North Carolina have spent the month of August hosting special “seniors helping seniors” events in support of the nationwide “Clear the Shelters” campaign. The communities joined forces to bring awareness to the challenge of adopting senior pets from shelters across the US. On average they spend 4x longer than younger pets and often get overlooked. Waltonwood senior residents rolled up their sleeves and opened their hearts to help these amazing senior pets find loving homes in their golden years.

Our residents generated over 2,000 toys and supplies, over 1,000 homemade fresh baked dog treats, and paid for 7 senior dog adoptions with 3 more pending. We are committed to continue this work alongside our amazing residents and support local animal rescues and shelters.

Waltonwood Lake Boone's Pawty Time Bark Bash in partnership with WakeGov Pets: Wake County Animal Center was a huge success!

Residents outdid themselves, crafting homemade treats, toys, and blankets for furry friends and raised awareness about senior dogs and shelter overcrowding. This amazing event was part of Waltonwood's Senior Helping Seniors events and helped kick off the Clear the Shelter Day, encouraging people to give shelter animals a forever home!

Camp Waltonwood at Waltonwood Ashburn was truly magical! Residents and associates came together to create many stunning displays including a stunning coat of arms, a huge dragon, knitted mushrooms for each camper and a boat collection display. Residents also provided live entertainment.

Waltonwood Cherry Hill residents and family enjoyed a day at Kensington Park on the Island Queen Boat!

Waltonwood Cherry Hill and Waltonwood Carriage Park celebrated National Clear the Shelters Day and helped six dogs (with another three pending) find their forever homes! Waltonwood partnered with Bottle Babies Rescue, Humane Society of Huron Valley and Lollipup Mobile Grooming to help find these dogs their new families! Another Adventure by Waltonwood is inspired by Waltonwood Twelve Oaks resident Ms. Joan and her collection of teacups she has gathered throughout her years. Joan, her daughter, Peggy, and their Life Enrichment leaders, Alecia and Emily, ventured to the The Purple Door Tea Room for High Tea.

Residents had a great time soaking up the evening sun in the courtyard and enjoying Hawaiian and Polynesian-themed cuisine made by our Culinary chefs.
