It's finally Shark Week 2024! Are you as excited as we are? If your plans this week involve lots of hammerhead, black-tip, great-white, or any other type of shark, we have got the To-Go bag for you! This Thursday from 10:30-11 am, the West Chicago Public Library District's Youth Services department will be giving a special storytime at our neighbors, Kindred Coffee Roasters! Parents, take this opportunity to drop by our favorite neighborhood coffeeshop for some caffeine, and fun activities, stories, and songs for your young ones. No registration is required, just drop on by Kindred at 10:30, and we'll see you there!
Don't forget, the incredible guitarist, Jim Green will be at the Reed-Keppler Park Shell this Wednesday as part of WCPLD and West Chicago Park District's Summer Concert Series! Starting at 7 pm, you could hear Green's unique performance style, featuring unusual guitar tunings while incorporating percussive rhythms, harmonics, and finger-tapping with a piano-like approach that is both musically and visually stimulating.

For our July Summer Concert Series at the Shell in Reed-Keppler Park, the West Chicago Public Library District and the West Chicago Park District are proud to present guitar phenom, Jim Green! Join us at the Shell on Wednesday, July 10th from 7-8 PM for a free concert we're all sure to enjoy! No registration required, just drop on by!
Green’s driving perfectionism to his music brought him from an unknown street musician to gaining the attention of the Editors at Billboard Magazine, who named him "One of the best independent artists in the Midwest", and winning the 2004 Guitar Idol Championship. Jim Green transcends popular genres by creating fiery, percussive-driven songs and 3-dimensional fingerstyle instrumentals in a fresh and compelling way. Green’s live performances weave through genres, with sounds ranging anywhere from a driving rock band to a blissful simple melody.

The West Chicago Public Library's parking lot will be closed on July 4th through the morning of July 5th for scheduled parking lot maintenance. There will be a team sealcoating and striping the lot to keep it in good condition for our community! The lot will also be closed Sunday, July 7th. We appreciate your understanding. You will still be able to access the book-drops on foot, and if you can't, don't worry about it! We don't charge late fees, so bring it back when you can. See you at the library!
