One of the most important steps in flight training is the Pre-Flight Check! 📝

Some of these steps include:

✅ Checking paperwork
✅ Inspecting the aircraft for safety
✅ Checking oil and fuel levels

Pre-flight checks are a vital component of aviation safety and efficiency, ensuring that every flight is conducted with the highest standards of reliability and preparedness. Once you've completed your pre-flight check, you'll be more prepared for takeoff! ✈️

Hailing from Third Lake, Illinois, Sydney is not just a pilot; she's a powerhouse in the skies! As a CFI II with Instrument Ratings across multiple aircraft, she has a love for aviation and is passionate about mentoring and supporting students throughout their flight training journeys!

Proudly carrying on a family legacy as a second-generation female pilot, Sydney aspires to follow her mother's flight path to the airlines ✈️. Beyond the cockpit, she dedicates her time to her local EAA chapter, giving back to the aviation community.

Her passion isn't just in the clouds; she's also a lake enthusiast, spending summers with her sidekick, Leo, her German Shepherd. 🐾 Whether she's soaring above or chilling by the water, Sydney's dedication shines through. If you see her around the campus, make sure to say hi!

Meet the Piper Aztec! A Multi-engine aircraft available to use at IAA! ✈️

With two Piper Aztecs available for use here at IAA, these aircraft facilitate valuable training experiences for students, focusing on multi-engine proficiency and time building. The Aztec aids students in learning complex aircraft systems and multi-engine operations. The Aztec helps aspiring pilots to develop confidence and proficiency in various aspects of flight.

Our Certified Flight Instructors (CFIs) are thrilled to utilize these aircraft to train our aviation enthusiasts. The hands-on experience aims to help prepare our students to take to the skies.

We are thrilled to announce that we have a new plane available for flight training here at Illinois Aviation Academy! This Cessna 172S is a great addition to the fleet, offering simplistic flight characteristics and outfitted with the GARMIN 750W avionics system.

Our CFIs are excited to use this aircraft to help train our students, so we can better prepare everyone for their ventures up in the sky.

IAA recently collaborated with the Chicago Steel Hockey Team for a fundraising event benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (JDRF) to help raise awareness about Type 1 diabetes in our community!

Thanks to the combined efforts of IAA and its supporters, we raised over $6,600! This contribution will help increase awareness of Type 1 diabetes within the aviation community and society as a whole. A special thanks to Dan Lehv for his collaboration and helping raise awareness for this important cause. Thanks to everyone who participated! 🎉

Congratulations to Sabino Serna for achieving an incredible milestone in his aviation journey - completing his first solo flight! 🎉

Did you know? 💭 For the 5th consecutive year, we recognize April 27 as Drone Safety Day!

Drones have become indispensable tools for professional industries such as real estate, photography, and filmmaking. At Illinois Aviation Academy, you can also train for drone piloting! ✈️

We will introduce the fundamentals of drone flying using methods that include lectures, labs, videos, and actual flight lessons. Students will be evaluated throughout the entire process to help prepare them for the FAA Part 107 Commercial Drone Certification Exam.
