New Painting…Chianti Landscape
While traveling thru Chianti by car we spotted that strange building way in the background. We managed to find the right road and it led to a what turned out to be a former Grand Palace which had been transformed into a resort hotel. It had a spectacular view IN REVERSE of my painting and now a chance to use your imagination to view it the other way around. Chianti, Italy 36"x48" Acrylic on Canvas June 2021. 🇮🇹

While visiting friends in Santa Barbara I came across this lovely building in the downtown historic district called The Lobero Building…teeming with beautiful bougainvillea climbing all the way to the 4th floor. Acrylic on Belgian Linen 30” X 40”

My Pandemic Painting + Dolphin- Venice, Italy
I call my “Pandemic Painting” not so much for the significance of the subject matter and yes, because of the subject matter. If you’ve ever spent time in Venice, Italy you would be aware of the crush of tourism and what it has done to one of our most cherished and charming spots on earth. It’s been inundated with huge crowds in San Marco Square and giant cruise ships blocking the entrance to the tiny picturesque canals that make up the backbone of Venice…but especially the water itself was a non-translucent green whereby you could not see more than the surface. So along comes the PANDEMIC and tourists disappear and the cruise ships disappear and Viola!! The water is clear again, so much so that jellyfish have returned to the charming liquid passageways and a dolphin has been photographed where speedboat taxis once plyed the canals. I kept this in mind while working on this painting if for no other reason than to aptly title it “MY PANDEMIC MASTERPIECE”. I would love to re-visit Venizie to see for myself that we can save something so worthwhile. 30"x40" Oil on Canvas 2020

Havana, Cuba #2, Havana Cuba - I hired a driver while in Havana who took me to places where few tourists would dare visit. I found crumbling buildings that were once glorious mansions and cars that seemed to be out of a time capsule, but somehow their former beauty was still shining through. Jan. 25, 26: Artist Macey Lipman Introduces His ‘Summit Series’ Macey Lipman, noted for his career in the music business and the recording industry, in recent years has focused full time on his passion for painting. His newest body of work, “The Summit Series” will be introduced at opening receptions on Jan. 25 and Jan. 26 from 2 to 6 p.m. each day.

Popocatepetl Volcano (El Popa), Mexico, Acrylic on canvas 30"x 40"

Popocatepetl is 43 miles southeast of Mexico City, from where it can be seen regularly, depending on atmospheric conditions. At 17,802 feet it is the second highest peak in Mexico.. Until recently, the volcano was one of three tall peaks in Mexico to contain glaciers. The volcano is also referred to "El Popa". The painting depicts an early stage of a major eruption in April 2019 in which the plume rose to 26,000 feet raining ash for miles around the area. El Popa is seen here from the slopes of neighboring lztaccihuatl, which my daughter climbed a few days before the eruption.

is am tracing the latest picture so I can get started on the painting and figure out where I am going to be placing the buildings so they line up perfectly! A challenge I invite in my artwork.

Now the Piece D' resistance......My daughter who lives in Portland Or came home for Thanksgiving, and since she is an avid skydiver headed down to a popular "Drop Zone " near the town of PERRIS,CA We followed her down and on the way drove thru the downtown section of Perris (all 3 blocks ) for some artistic reason it had great appeal to me. There were many empty stores and there were many stores with a strong"Mexican" Influence in the color of their signs and the type of lettering etc and there was Xmas decorations hung across the street there was also a once charming closed movie theatre called THE CHIEF with one of those tall Art Nouveau icons overhead.
Anyway, I went back to Perris on Xmas Day and photographed the 3 blocks (97 pictures ) I printed the digital photographs, pasted them together and came up with pictures measuring from 52" long to 18" long. all 9 will be 10" in height. this will be my project for the entire year and I hope to have a show in either November/ December
there's definitely something magical about this very small agricultural town decimated by big malls but still holding on and supported by a strong Mexican (Not Hispanic or Latino but MEXICAN ) culture During the course of the year I'll post my progress on this inspiring project
