A Night at Restoration Park was a great success!! The food was good, the cooks were great, and the company was excellent. Another beautiful "Frame the Drain" project was recently completed by local artist Shykeria Smith, a graphic design student at the University of Louisiana Monroe

This Frame the Drain is located at the corner of N. 4th Street and Pine Street in front of First West and Crosley Elementary School.

Shykeria's design is not only a beautiful piece of artwork but a reminder of why we should pick up litter before it goes down storm drains and empties into local waterways. Shown in the photo with Shykeria is KWMB Chairman Stuart Hodnett.

Join Keep West Monroe Beautiful for "A Night at Restoration Park" on Friday, August 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Restoration Park Pavilion. "A Night at Restoration" is a Keep West Monroe Beautiful fundraiser along with an event to bring light to our community garden! Light hors d’ oeuvres and garden vegetables (from our own community garden) and summer drinks will be served. 🥦🫑

Recycling at home is easy! Throw recyclable items in some type of tote or container instead of the trash can. Not only are you keeping items out of the landfill, but you are reducing your household garbage.

To make it convenient for you, the West Monroe Recycling Center is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the first Saturday of each month.♻️

Is it snowing off I-20 in West Monroe in July? No! It’s a fiber filled mattress that was dropped & run over. Thanks to Stuart Hodnett, Beautification Director City of West Monroe, Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office Correctional Center & Ouachita Green it’s all cleaned!

Keep West Monroe Beautiful has continued its "Frame the Drain" project to educate the public about the harms of litter going down storm drains and emptying to local bodies of water.

Local artist Brittney Shambro was selected as one of this year's Frame the Drain artists and painted a storm drain at Boley Elementary. Shown in the photo with Brittney is Keep West Monroe Beautiful Chairman Stuart Hodnett.

Every Ouachita Parish Public Library has litter clean up supplies ready for check out! Use an adult library card to check out a clean up kit- safety vests, grabbers, trash bags, & instructions on how to conduct your cleanup. It’s also a great hands-on way for families, small homeschool groups, youth groups, and scouts to care for their neighborhood, get community service hours & make a difference!

Congratulations to Ouachita Parish! Keep Louisiana Beautiful created a program called Clean Biz Partners. Businesses are encouraged to commit to adopting daily best practices for reducing and preventing litter. Keep Louisiana Beautiful challenged each affiliate across the state to sign up 10 businesses to become a Clean Biz Partner. Each Ouachita Green affiliate, Keep Ouachita Parish Beautiful, Keep Monroe Beautiful and Keep West Monroe Beautiful met and doubled the challenge! In fact, Keep West Monroe Beautiful signed 30 Clean Biz Partners, more than any other affiliate in the state! During this promotion, 140 businesses became Clean Biz partners in Louisiana. 70 of those businesses were from Ouachita Parish. Currently Ouachita Parish has more Clean Biz Partners than any other of the 64 parishes. 143 businesses in Ouachita Parish are Clean Biz Partners. Bring items you can reuse. Reusable water bottles, reusable coffee mugs, and reusable straws are great for travel and can help save you money while protecting the planet.
Don’t forget to also pack a couple of eco-friendly tote bags and reusable zip bags. They take up hardly any room in your suitcase and are handy for souvenir purchases and for food you may pick up from the local market.
Use refillable travel-size containers to bring your favorite shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion with you, or opt for solid, biodegradable shampoo, conditioner, and shaving bars to avoid the possibility of leaks.
Consider downloading tickets, itineraries & boarding passes and storing them on your phone to save all that excess paper.
